Should he get a vote for the Hall of Fame? I think so.
He has served his time. It's also time to forgive.
Take a vote before before he dies!
MLB commissioner Bud Selig mulling pardon for hit king Pete Rose
Thanks to the behind-the-scenes lobbying from some of the most influential Hall of Famers, commissioner Bud Selig is said to be seriously considering lifting Pete Rose's lifetime suspension from baseball.
If Selig does reinstate him, Rose then would become eligible for the Hall of Fame, but on the Veterans Committee ballot, as his 15 years on the Baseball Writers ballot expired during his time on the ineligible list. He would thus have to be elected by his peers, the 65 living members in the Hall of Fame, not all of whom agree with Aaron, Morgan and Robinson that Rose has done his time. It's hard to say if he would get the necessary 75% for election. "I know there are still guys who feel strongly against him," said one Hall of Famer, "and I don't know if that would change even if Selig clears him."

You're right about that, but it's just too many years too late for him.
He's there in the hearts of many though.

The most overplayed bad sports radio topic of all time finally died a few years ago and now Bud wants to open it back up for debate. Does anyone other than Pete really care anymore?

Somewhere, Kenesaw Mountain Landis is rolling over in his grave.
Bud Selig might be the most incompetent commissioner in the history of any professional league.

If he gets in it will ruin Pete. He's built this mini memorabilia empire based on his exclusion. I'm not sure if he still does it, but he used to go to Cooperstown every year during the induction and set up this mini mall of all his crap, with giant signs outside about how he should be in the HOF.

The greatest hitter of all time, without steroids, should be included in the HOF. For all of those that feel they cannot support him, you have my empathy. Charlie Hustle is one of a kind and there will never be another like him. Go Cowboys!!!!

He should never be allowed or honored at the hall. It is sacred ground and he would ruin it.
I was in Cooperstown this weekend and Pete wasnt doing anything that most of the hall of famers were also doing. He was set up in a souvenir store charging a minimum of 60 bucks for his autograph on whatever you brought in. There was zero campaigning for him getting into the hall. The other players had tables set up on main street where they were also selling their autographs for insane amounts of cash.

Given the league's current attitude towards player conduct it is 100% hypocritical to continue the ban. The past decade has shown that the rules in MLB are irrelevant, so the ban should be lifted.

Using steriods to make you and consequently your team better, I can atleast understand.
Betting on baseball is off limits to me.

I've heard both sides, but I can't remember. Has it ever been proven he bet on any game he was participating in?

He accepted the "plea", I would imagine that he would not have done that if they didn't have the "goods" on him.
It doesn't matter either way, it's strictly a no-no for him to bet on baseball (any games).

Actually they are both about making money by breaking the rules. Gambling is an addiction where steroids aren't. Rose has consistently lied about whether he was/is gambling but Bonds has consistently lied about using perormance enhancing drugs, too. I can argue both sides of this argument.

Yes, because a player like Barry Bonds sure cared about the good of the team

MLB has sucked goat balls since the days of Casey, Mickey, and Yogi. This needs to be moved to Non-Sports.:bunnyf:

He lied for how many years before he finally came clean about his gamblinng? Then his motivation was to try to use his admission to be allowed back in the game. He did the unthinkable in baseball. The big nono.
I want to say I can't believe Bud his considering this, but I can't say I am not surprised given it is Bud.

Compassion is the quality we are all measured by. Baseball is a near-dead sport and we are arguing over HOF questions? Forgive, and lift the ban. One issue at a time..the HOF will be decided by those already in it and not by the fans. Go Cowboys!!!

Lift the ban. Rose was one of the best ever. He bet on baseball. He paid his price.
