I know you all will and it comforts me just knowing Dad's got some more prayers coming his way. I just got home from the emergency room. Dad complained of stomach pains around 9:30pm and so my Mom called for an ambulance. We've been in the emergency room since. The doctor came by about 30 minutes ago and said the CATT scan (sp?) didn't reveal anything. No tear in the stomach. No blockage. No hernia problems. No nothing. We aren't sure what is going on. The doctor did mention Dad could have had a mild heart attack but it was his gut that was hurting. I've never seen Dad is so much pain and they gave him three shots of morphine and he still was complaining. He was sweating when he came in and remained clammy and complained of headaches too.
Anyway, I'm going to bed hoping for some good news in the morning. Thanks for your prayers and support!

Just a brief message as I had to remote in to do some quick work as I am off today.
The diagnosis is not good. Dad has a loss of blood to his intestines and/or bowel (probably due to his heart rate). His heart rate was at 40% when he came in and is now down to 5%. He was coherent last night but is not now. Doctors gave us (my sister, Mom and I) the choice of operation to explore what is wrong with Dad and possibly fix it but he is unresponsive now and he might not even survive surgery let alone recovery so we have opted not to do anything but medication and morphine so he is not hurting. Thanks for all your support and prayers! It's just a matter of time now.

I lost my Dad tonight at 6:20pm. He went without pain and all of us were there to say our goodbyes. We're calling it congestive heart failure but it was more to it than that. Thanks for your prayers and concerns!
I've been checking in all afternoon, hoping for good news.
So sorry about your dad. I lost mine a few years back. It's very, very hard. I'll pray for you and your family as you face these difficult next few days.

If it is okay to share, this is my Dad's obituary. He had a full life.
Things have been going okay. We've helped my Mom with a lot of things. People (including you all) have been so sweet and kind. Family is coming in from Minnesota and St. Louis tomorrow. I just know I'm going to be the biggest crybaby on Tuesday. I joked to my sister that I think I'm going to scotchguard my clothes for Tuesday.

Bill D. Halley, 84, of Stillwater died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Stillwater. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. B. Gordon Edwards officiating. Also participating in the service will be Associate Pastor Leah Hrachovec and Pastor James Bond of Countryside Baptist Church. Private family interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater.
He was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Mooreland to E.E. and Maude (Millspaugh) Halley. He was the youngest child of three, with a brother, Robert, and sister, Margaret. He met his future wife and life-long love, Jo Ann Mullendore, on a blind “hayrack ride” date. They were married Nov. 21, 1948, in Stillwater and had two children, Lynda and Rick.
He graduated from Edmond High School in 1941 and Oklahoma State University with a degree in architecture in 1950. He served as a lieutenant in the Transportation Corps from 1943-46 during World War II. Prior to graduation from OSU, he taught for two years in OSU’s school of architecture.
After graduation, they moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for several architecture firms (C.E. Williams; Parr & Overholt; Sorey, Hill & Sorey) before establishing his own private firm in 1960. He expanded his architectural practice to include several partnerships (Halley & Riek, Halley, Riek & Hester, and Jones, Halley, Bates & Riek).
In 1971, he became University Architect and Director of Architectural Services for Oklahoma State University. This position was responsible for the initial planning, working drawings and construction supervision of all building projects on the main Oklahoma State University campus as well as all Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College campuses. Bill was committed to maintaining the Georgian architectural style as a unifying theme for the Stillwater campus. He retired from this position in 1986.
Professionally, Bill was a corporate member of the national American Institute of Architects and was active in state and local chapters of the A.I.A. He was also an active member of The Association of University Architects (AUA).
In college, he was a member of the Beaux-Arts Society, Sigma Tau (Engineering Society) and Sigma Alpha Epsilon, social fraternity.
Among his many architectural achievements, he designed and assisted in the design of The First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lincoln Plaza, the Cameron Building, Larson Keso Dental Office, in addition to building his own office building on Northwest 39th Expressway. Another major project in Oklahoma City was the renovation of the Kerr-McGee building, downtown. Statewide, he designed many school and government buildings including schools in Sentinel and Lawton and the Stephens County Courthouse. In Stillwater, he designed the Pi Beta Phi sorority house on the Oklahoma State campus and assisted the Stillwater Country Club, First Presbyterian Church and the city of Stillwater on building projects.
Bill was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City, an OSU Emeriti Association member and Lifetime Member of the OSU Alumni Association.
Above all, Bill was a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humor. He had many loves: first, and foremost, his wife and children. His hobbies included playing golf and bridge, collecting stamps, painting, traveling, and watching OSU sporting events. He also had a passion for music and enjoyed singing in several church choirs. Family pets were also a joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his children, Lynda and Rick; Elizabeth, Rick’s wife; and his grandson, Chris. Extended family includes Ruth Ross, Mike and Danna Ross, Tim and Jan Ross, Mary Ellen and Doug Smith, and these families’ children.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Organ Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 524 S. Duncan, Stillwater, 74074; the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, 75231; or to any charity of your choice.

Im very sorry for your loss.
I am praying for you & your family.
Your father sounds like a fantastic person who lived life well and fully. Amid your tears, I hope you'll also find some smiles when you remember a life so well-lived.
(And as an ordained Presbyterian elder myself, I'm most impressed by all the work he did in and on Presbyterian church--awesome.)
