I know of one, but he can't do it without breaking glass.

Erick brews a lot! Some of it actually makes it to the bottles, too. ;-)

I am looking for a cheap way to brew good beer. I have seen some kits but for what those things cost...what's the point? I just want to get out in front of Obama's beer tax.

You rang?
You can't brew beer cheaper than you can buy it unless you want to brew a few hundred barrels at a time. Good beer isn't necessarily cheap, but its rewarding. I would stay away from the kits like Mr. Beer and brew real beer with good ingredients.
A 5 gallon of beer usually costs around $35-$50 a batch depending on whether you are brewing with malt extracts or all-grain. The style will also play into the cost, like an IPA will have triple the hops as a Hefe.
What's up with his tax proposal?
If you are serious about brewing, I can get you some information on it and some ideas on equipment and costs. :food-smiley-004:
One more thing, if you do brew and have a horrific, near-death catastrophe of an accident with a large glass carboy.......don't ever tell anyone.

Once upon a time, there was a bar called the Grey Fox, purveyor of the beer known as Bud. I was then/am still a "Coors" baby. According to my friends that owned/ran the Fox, Coors (aka "weasel piss") was made from the urine of thousands of weasels kept in cages in the Colorado Mts.
The moral of this story; do you want to brew weasel piss or beer?:officechair:
