OBAMA BREAKS "READ MY LIPS" PROMISE

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

President George H.W. Bush lost the presidency because he broke his 1988 campaign pledge: "read my lips: no new taxes." Now President Obama is as blatantly poised to disregard his most fundamental campaign promise: "if you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not go up. Not one dime."

In our new book Catastrophe, we write about the breadth of Obama's planned tax hikes and the heights to which he will drive taxes. To pay for his health care catastrophe, Obama will likely make all health insurance premiums, paid by employers, taxable to the employees.

So if your income is $50,000 and your employer pays $10,000 in health insurance premiums for you, your taxable income will be $50,000. In effect, this means that most taxpayers will have to pay more than a third of their incomes to the federal government.

And Obama's "cap and trade" legislation is the exact same as Al Gore's BTU tax which was the centerpiece of Clinton's 1993 tax program. Eventually, Clinton replaced it with a flat 5 cent gasoline tax. But the idea of taxing utility bills to drive down electricity use is as old as the Clinton Administration. But Obama can't call it a tax because that would break his pledge. So he calls it cap and trade instead.

Finally, it is obvious that Obama will be unable to restore financial solvency to Social Security and Medicare without big hikes in the payroll tax, coming in 2011!

It is ultimately these tax increases which will drive Obama's congressional majority from office in the 2010 elections. His stimulus package, raising the deficit damaged the recovery by raising interest rates. Now he will complete the catastrophe by raising taxes. Together, these tax hikes and interest rate increases will choke off any recovery the business cycle would naturally catalyze.

From now on, its Obama's recession.

For the first time in my life, I am truly concerned that what the government is doing will have a significant long term effect on my everyday life - and quality thereof.

Until now, I always let Washington's incestuous behavior consume itself. Unfortunately, the freaks are starting to climb the fences. I'd start by saying that I didn't vote for Erkel, but at this point its too late to simply point fingers and lay blame on Dems and/or libs. We've all watched our president punt/wait-and-see/retreat on so many issues of national concern that we can't simply make it an us vs them argument anymore.

I'm at an absolute loss as to what to do. I fear I will have to one day look my grandchildren in the eye and explain to them that what happened to the freedom and liberty once provided to us by membership in this great U.S. of A. was similar to the disfunctional citizenship of WWII Germany. When everyone is guilty - no one is.

Actually, what makes me sad about America is that someday I will have to look in my grandchildren's eyes and explain to them why people in America hate other people so much just because of the political party they affiliate themselves with and will spend every waking moment of their lives while the other one is in power doing nothing but trying to break the person in power down instead of actually doing something about it.

You should post more often. Our country will NEVER recover from the facist crap this clown is imposing, nor the related taxes to fund it. If people don't "wake up and piss, the world's on fire", we're screwed.:headbang:

Hate? Hate is a strong word. I personally feel that Obama is a very charismatic and personable fellow that is very at ease in the public eye. Which may explain why his personal approval ratings are still so high while his policies are starting to get hammered in the polls.

And as far as doing something about the party in power I realize that he is with us for a few more years and I can not do anything about that, BUT I am doing everything in my power to convince anyone I talk to that his policies may be the ruin of this country. No scratch 'may be' and replace it with "will be".

And before you get all defensive CaptMike let me say that I am not to damn happy with the Republican party either.

The time is ripe for a real strong Independent Party. I was surprised the other day when I heard that a majority of the American public classified themselves as "Independent". If a true leader came along and captured the American publics eye as Obama did they might very well win the next election. Why? Because it is my belief that the American public is starting to wake up to the fact that our country is slipping towards socialism and the slope is getting steeper. And all we have in Washington is a bunch of whiny cry babies trying to out do each other and hold on to their cushy jobs and the power that goes with it.
