OSU Announces Limited Re-Seating Plan for Football
The Oklahoma State Athletic Department will announce today that they will meet the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) without having to re-seat the entire north and south sides of Boone Pickens Stadium.

At the start of last season, OSU informed football season ticket holders of plans to re-seat the renovated north and south sides of the Boone Pickens Stadium to comply with ADA requirements in response to a lawsuit filed in 2005. Since that time, OSU officials have developed a re-seating plan for the stadium intended to minimize the impact on season ticket holders, while complying with all applicable accessibility requirements.

"We received an enormous amount of customer feedback from this initiative with fans encouraging us to explore all options outside of re-seating the entire stadium. In recent weeks, stadium architects and athletic administrators worked hard to come up with a new plan we think serves season ticket holders and also fans with wheelchair access needs," said Athletic Director Mike Holder.

While new platforms are being added to provide easier and better access for fans with wheelchair access needs, most season ticket holders will remain in the same seats they have enjoyed for years. As few as 500 seats are being removed in front of all stadium tunnel passages that do not open onto box seats. OSU will give season ticket holders in these specific areas the opportunity to relocate to the best seating currently available.

I think, as with most things OSU, pundits took a little bit of information and then went WAAAAY over the top with their doomsday predictions and complaints. I'm sure not 100% of holders will be completely happy but its not abuot you - its about the wheelchairs.

My Take:

- Holder used a valid issue (the ADA remodel) to try and force through a reseating in order to upgrade the seating of his precious "major" donors.

- The "Minor Majority" of OSU fans raised heck and forced Holder's hand on the issue.

- Holder buckled under from the backlash of the long time season ticket holders.

He didn't buckle at all. The AD did not expect the feedback they got, however when they got it they re-looked for the path of least resistance.

i was just about to call the POSSE...i never even recieved all the information they were supposed to send out about the reseating. they were supposed to send a bunch of stuff out in the fall. i guess it's a moot point.

We have 5 seats on the last row in front of a tunnel entrance in section O. Sounds to me, they have removed my seats and we'll have to move elsewhere.

If this is the case, I would be in favor of a mass reseatiing effort. :(

I never thought I would be effected with either of my two seats because of my Posse Points. One set of seats I have had for 30 years and my mom seats that I use is over 60 years. Even with the new rich big donors (box seats and club seat holders) they are not going to move. Both set are on the 45 yard line north and 45 yard line south side

your close, I think row 42 seat 20,21?. I have sold these seats off to a friend for the last couple of years just to hang on to them. My mom's seats on the south side are row 20 so I like them better and I don't want to lose these either given my life style changes lately and what's going to happen in the future ie new girl friend in the future

So does this mean they're not going to expand the size of the seats? If not, they need to start measuring the size of people's back ends and charging them for multiple seats if they're over a certain size. Too many fatasses trying to squeeze into small seats.

I think that is a piss-poor way to look at it; and I would question the validity of those statements.

1) the #1 complaint about the stadium is the cramped seating conditions. The complaints are day to day and year to year. The seats are simply too freaking narrow and somthing needs to be done about it.

2) The donor seating has moved around greatly the past 2 seasons as many of the big donors moved themselves into the Suites and Club levels; any "precious major donor" that wanted to get premo seats already had ample opportunity to move into such seats... how many " precious major donors" can be left after adding 50 suites and 3,000 club seats? Those people in those seats had to come from somewhere, most likely from the "precious major donor" list, or from the existing donor seating, which would open up those seats. And that is not even counting the 60 new suites that will come into play in 2009.

I just don't think that your position holds water.

Any fans "raising heck" are ignorant and selfish, IMO. They had absolutely no idea what the impact of reseasting would have on them (likely none of any consequence), and as a result they ruined our opportunity to finally have comfort so they could sit six seats and 2 rows closer... in cramped seats instead of comfort.

Additionally, the failure to widen the seats and shuffle fans around has probably ruined forever our only opportunity to set the stage for eventually getting permanent chairs.

Way to go "fans".

Ignorant jerks, is more like it, if you ask me.

The one real aminity that would actually improve the game day experience (wider seats) was quashed by some ignorant fear mongering.

Isn't this a lovely world in which we reside... where the "minor majority" (which in this case would be more aptly called the "2nd major minority") can ruin a perfect opportunity because of their own personal greed and ignorance.

It had absolutly nothing to do with "precious major donors" or any other conspiracy theory . . . I guess it doesn't really matter now anyway, since a few thousand clowns have ruined the once in a lifetime opportunity to add the one aminity that BPS sorely needs; comfort.

So I just gave them $150 to help with my reseating for nothing???

It was all a scam to get more donations!:p

Seriously, if I were you, I would contact the ticket office or Posse office to ask about that situation. They sure made it sound like you had better give more money if you want to ensure you get the seats you want. And then now they crawdad on the original plan.
