I wonder if they will have another one. Students voted down an Orange Peel fee of $7.50 per semester to supplement the expense of Orange Peel.

I have no inside information, but my bet is that they won't. It seems too big a project with too much to do for a rotating group of students. Major concert promotion is a full time thing needed expert assistance.

I am really surprised that the administration let this die...it brought many $$$ into the community that otherwise would usually wait until the next day to come.
Even though it was great as "student-run" they could have had a hands on advisor that helped keep the people goal oriented. Also, they could have had the committees formed a year sooner so they had more time to plan.

Not finding a professional production firm to organize and manage the thing was its death knell. There is no way that a group of students has the skills to pull this type of thing off in a sustainable way.

Yeah, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland are the only two kids that can pull off a huge production like that on their own.
That one's for all the really old farts around here!:D

A paid alumni group would have the skills and know how to pull this off! But I don't see OSU hiring a full time group to do this.
The group could then up cheap labor "Free Labor" Students to do the grunt work.

I'm not suggesting student leadership had no role in OP, but there are aspects of large event management that I believe simply aren't served well by a group of full time students donating their time. This is the kind of thing that people make careers out of and pulling it off successfully year after year takes a lot of experience and talent.
That said, I think it would be much easier to organize a smaller event to be held in GIA. No risk of getting rained out, way smaller stage, way simpler AV, and it's much easier to book acts that draw 10k+ to a town like STW and not have to draw upwards of 30k people to break even. Less fallout of going with a family oriented billing or a college oriented one (either way, you can get enough butts in the seats) and way less pressure on booking the end all be all of entertainment acts.
Who knows how such a thing would be viewed in lieu of the Peel, though.
