General admission tickets are now on sale to hear former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton speak May 2 at the BOK Center.
The 16th annual William Booth Society dinner is a fundraiser for The Salvation Army in Tulsa and will help provide 300,000 meals and emergency services for 7,000 needy families.
Bush and Clinton often travel and speak together to raise money for philanthropic causes. They raised money to help communities rebuild and recover from the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Each former president will speak for 20 minutes on how people can give to their communities, then answer questions submitted in advance.
"The former presidents more commonly speak to corporate audiences, so we are extremely honored that they have chosen to come to Tulsa to help raise money for The Salvation Army," said Capt. Roy Williams, the Tulsa metro area commander.
A limited number of tickets to see the former presidents speak at 7:30 p.m. are available online at tulsaworld.com/bok; in person at Reasor's stores and the Arby's Box Office at the BOK Center; or by calling (866) 7-BOKCTR. Tickets cost $125 each.
Reservations for tables at the 6:30 p.m. dinner can be made by sending an e-mail to nlloyd@tulsacoxmail.com (nlloyd@tulsacoxmail.com).
Skylar Johnson, a member of the Sapulpa Boys & Girls Club, a Salvation Army youth facility, was the winner of an essay contest on how to give to the community and is invited to the dinner.
