Oklahoma State freshman guard James Anderson crumpled to the court with an ankle injury at the 12:27 mark of the second half of a Big 12 road opener against Baylor and did not return. He hobbled to the locker room at game's end.
"They're going to X-ray his ankle tomorrow," coach Sean Sutton said. "He came down on his ankle and I guess the pain was too much where he couldn't come back in, so hopefully it's not too serious."
After a postgame press conference, Sutton said he has a good feeling about what X-rays will show. Anderson entered the game as the Cowboys' leading scorer (16.5 ppg). He scored 11 against the Bears in 20 minutes of court time.
Breaking a tie: The score was tied when Anderson got hurt.
"It was a blow to our team because we rely on him to score," Sutton said. "I thought what it did more than anything is it forced guys to play too many minutes and as a result I thought we got fatigued and worn down at the defensive end."
Terrel Harris played 36 min utes, Byron Eaton played 35 minutes and Obi Muonelo played 15 second-half minutes.
Senegal reunion: OSU center Ibrahima Thomas and Baylor center Mamadou Diene are both from Senegal. Do they know each other? Of course. They are friends who once played for the same coach in their home country.
It's been years: OSU holds a 47-13 series edge against Baylor, including a 20-5 record since the formation of the Big 12. But the Cowboys, who lost in Waco last March, have lost two consecutive games to the Bears for the first time since 1972.
Breaking even: OSU fell to 6-6 in Big 12 road openers, including a 2-1 record when matched against Baylor.
Fumble: OSU's 22 turnovers were the most by a Baylor opponent in a Big 12 game since the 2004-05 season, when the Cowboys had 23 giveaways against the Bears.
Harris poll: Junior guard Terrel Harris averaged 10.7 points in the first four games he played against Baylor. He scored the second-highest total of his career (23 points) against the Bears this time.
