View Full Version : Shaw a COWBOY BB signee
Hmmm...guess the Kirkland deal made way for Shaw?
But he sure didn't seem to be very highly recruited (by others)!
Any of ya from down South know more detail on Shaw (and his
recruitment)?

This is from the final Rivals Top 150 blurb...
NEW TO THE RIVALS150
Seven prospects jumped into the final Rivals150. Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy point guard Lamont Jones has the highest-ranked debut, at No. 68. Jones transformed from an undersized shooting guard into a powerful point guard as a senior.
Hassan Whiteside made an impression this year with his play for The Patterson School in Patterson, N.C. Full of potential and headed to Marshall, the 6-foot-11 Whiteside ranks No. 87.
Creighton-bound point guard Andrew Bock stole the show at the MaxPreps tournament over the holidays, then led his Rialto (Calif.) Eisenhower team to a state championship. He joins the four-star ranks along with Jones and Whiteside.
New to the three-star section of the rankings are Jarred Shaw (Oklahoma State signee), Tim Frazier (Penn State), Jordan Swing (Western Kentucky) and Brandon Triche (Syracuse).

With Shaw it sounds as if this class could be special.

ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Reggie Rankin talks about this athletic big man.
"Jarred is an athletic center who can really get up and down the floor and is a terrific shot blocker because if his great timing," Rankin said. "He will bring a lot of upside when he arrives at Stillwater next season."
Shaw primarily scores from 15 feet and in, according to Rankin.
"He scores with his back to the basket but can knock down the occasional jumper out to 15 feet," he said. "He has a nice little right handed jumphook and is working on a left handed version. He's also a good rebounder who scores on tip ins and put backs.
"Once he adds more consistent production to his game, he'll really take off," Rankin continued. "He also needs to continue to develop the necessary toughness to compete in the Big 12."
Rankin sees a nice fit between the Cowboys and Shaw.
"The Oklahoma State staff will love his athleticism and his upside," he concluded. "Jarred's a Big 12-type athlete with a ton of potential based on his size and athletic ability."
Shaw also had interest from Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor.
