STILLWATER — Nearly four months after Oklahoma State and football coach Mike Gundy agreed on a seven-year deal worth a total of $15.7 million, Gundy still has not signed the contract.

Gundy says there are no problems with the terms of the contract. The specific amount of his 2009 compensation, along with the bonus structure and buyout information, will not be known until the university releases details of the contract. That will not happen until Gundy has signed it.

"I just haven't gotten around to getting it signed, but I will soon," Gundy said. "Once it comes through, I can't imagine there will be any issues. It's just a matter of getting it done. It's a lot of paperwork."

Said athletic director Mike Holder: "It just takes a while to get a contract done. There are no problems."

Over the life of the contract, which extends through the 2015 season, Gundy collects an average of more than $2.2 million per year, making him the highest-paid coach in OSU history. Basketball coach Travis Ford's current pay is $1.3 million.

Last year, Gundy was paid $1,053,000.

His 2005 squad was 4-7 overall, 1-7 in the Big 12. In 2006, the Cowboys were 7-6, 3-5 (with an Independence Bowl victory over Alabama). In 2007, the Cowboys were 7-6, 4-4 (including an Insight Bowl triumph over Indiana). In 2008, OSU was 9-4 overall, 5-3 in the Big 12. The Cowboys lost only to teams that were ranked No. 1 nationally (Texas), No. 2 (Texas Tech), No. 3 (Oklahoma) and No. 15 (Oregon in the Holiday Bowl).

OSU was 16th in the final Associated Press poll.

glad to see that Ford makes that much, just a little bump and an extension should be sufficient to retain him for a while; regardless of everything else.
