because it is a fast walker. When I met Annie last month in Houston, she walked twice as fast as I did in the halls of the hospital. Well, my new treadmill does not have an infinite speed adjustment. It has 10 pushbuttons for 10 preset speeds. #1 is a little slow for me since I am out of shape and just starting to exercise again. Push #2 and it races ahead like I would expect a 4 speed. All of the numbers from 2-10 really go fast. I can barely keep up with speed #2 now. I'll bet Annie can do a 5 and not break a sweat.:) I wish I could recalibrate #2 slower, but I don't know if that is possible since the brains are all electronic.
