There is also a link at the bottom of the article to the author's blog. He has a very interesting take on the future role of the protestant church in society. Not a rosy picture, but he makes some very good points.

I read this earlier today and I thought it was spot on. The evangelical church's ties to the right are not sustainable. I sadly think that many of these churches only support the congregant's political beliefs rather than challenge them. I am however (as a RC) encouraged by:
•Two of the beneficiaries will be the Roman Catholic and Orthodox communions. Evangelicals have been entering these churches in recent decades and that trend will continue, with more efforts aimed at the "conversion" of Evangelicals to the Catholic and Orthodox traditions.
We will always welcome everyone back. :)

I'm not the most religious here and my own Christian beliefs might shock a few, but I think while thought provoking, the most intelligent thing he says is that most likely as old forms of Christianity (e.g., politics, bricks and mortar) might fade, it will most likely give rise to new forms of Christianity (e.g., home churches, efficiency in funding and significant reduction in hypocracy).
The radical reduction predicted is hard to fathom.
But, if you look at W Europe, there is an analog for what he is saying.
