I thought I would kick off conference play with my take on the upcoming game with Tech. I look forward to providing this thread before each conference game leading up to the tourney to break down our opponent and give my "expert" pick:D. So let's get this thing started and take a look at the Red Raiders.

Well, gone is number 22, and the only Red Raider you might be familar with is Martin Zeno. Tech relies heavily on three point shooting from their guards John Roberson, who runs point, and Alan Voskuil who runs the 2, shooting guard. Both deadly from behind the arc, but Voskuil leads the Big 12 in 3 point % at a blazing 60%. I imagine Dove will likely draw Voskuil on defense, should he heat up behind the arc. Muenolo or Harris will draw him otherwise.

Zeno has great moves to the basket and is a very aggressive player, he's a bit spotty, but I can gurantee you if he has an off night on the offensive side, he'll more than make up for it with his defense. Even so, he's their leading scorer coming in and we should have our hands full. You might see Dove on him quite a bit as well and will probably start out guarding Zeno at the tip.

Tech is eerily similar to us as they really depend on good guard play to have a solid outing. Their inside game is decent as they have a true 7 footer, but only gets 3 points a game and is more relied upon for his glass work(rebounding). They run 9 deep into their roster, so you can see Bobby is trying to find the right team chemistry like Sean is with us.

It boils down to this, who will show up in orange. Are we out-matched by this team?NO Do they have more talent than us? NO Do they play with heart and grit? You can bet your bottom dollar that Knight's team will. But will we?

I think we do. I think Eddie Sutton defense will make it's first appearance this season in our conference opener. Look for this to be a low scoring affair with the best defense tow in. If we can create easy transistion points off of good defense I think we win ugly.

I have Pokes by 7, maybe a little higher scoring, like around 69-62.

It'll be interesting to see if OSU worked on a little zone D this week in prep for Knight's motion offense. They've probably played more zone against Tech than all other games combined since Knight has been there.

Well, Jon, if we'd had my OSU points and your Tech points, we would've been pretty close. ;)

It was nice to see some tough defense from the guys today. This was a nice game for the Pokes!

Nice write up Jon!

WOW! What a way to end a slump!!! Obi played the best game of his career thus far. THAT'S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! Eddie would have been proud to see the defense played in this game by the Pokes.

Great way to start conference play.

Looking like the UT loss will help us in the race for the south

I had to watch at work on a 12 inch monitor:(, but man did GIA look alot better.

I'll be at the next home game:D

A 4 game winning streak and now, a 5 game winning streak is a slump?

I'll have whatever it is that you're smoking.

I was meaning Obi's slump

Even so, that four game winning streak sure looked sloppy to me:D
