One to go: James Anderson entered a Bedlam regular-season finale needing 35 points to match the second-most points in a season ever by an Oklahoma State sophomore. Anderson did better than that. He scored a career-high 37, moving past Bryant "Big Country" Reeves on the sophomore list.
Anderson has scored 568 points this season. Byron Houston is the only OSU player to score more as a sophomore. Anderson needs seven points to move ahead of Houston.
Also, Anderson's 37 points against OU were the second-most ever in any game by a Cowboy sophomore. Matt Clark got 39 at Alcorn State's expense on Dec. 29, 1980.
Light of day: OU and OSU played a day Bedlam game for the first time since Feb. 12, 2000.
Looking ahead: OSU finished 9-7 in Big 12 play, good enough for a four-way tie for fourth place with Kansas State, Texas and Texas A&M. However, tiebreaker scenarios were not kind to the Cowboys, who will be a No. 7 seed and will play No. 10 seed Iowa State in a first-round Big 12 Tournament game.
OSU beat ISU 86-67 in Stillwater this season, overcoming a 27-point, nine-rebound performance by Cyclone star Craig Brackins.
Quality defeats: OSU has lost 10 games this season. Seven of the defeats were dealt by teams ranked in the top 25.
OSU coach Travis Ford was disappointed his team lost Saturday. But, said Ford, "We are going against a team that is a top five team in the country, a team that I think has a chance to win the national championship, on the road against a sold-out crowd, Senior Night. We were right there."
OSU entered the final minute trailing by only three points.
