Could 2009 be the first year that a Big XII Tournament is won by a team playing 4 days in a row?
This Friday is the first time that Mrs. OP & mine’s 10 year anniversary falls again on Friday the 13th!
The last time this happened was in Kansas City, 1999, when we almost pulled off the 4 day win Big XII Championship Tournament!
1999 OSU Big XII Tournament
Thu. Baylor Win 83-57
Fri. Oklahoma Win 60-57
Sat. Texas Win 59-57
Sun. Kansas Loss 37-53
1999 OSU Team: Adrian Peterson, Brian Montonati, Desmond Mason, Scott Robisch, Glendon Alexander, Doug Gottlieb.
We didn’t lose on Sunday, we just ran out of gas!
On Thursday, we were sitting on the last row of the upper deck of Kemper Arena. I was getting ready to scream “OOOOORRRRRRAAAAAANNNNNGGGGEEEEEE!!!”. Mrs. OP suggested that I get others to do the cheer with me.
I went down both rows of the upper deck asking alums to the ORANGE-POWER Cheer. I didn’t have a sign, but I directed the cheer with my hands for 4 days!
On Sunday, when we rounded the corner of the upper deck, we were greeted with a standing ovation! We had alumni coming up to us saying they had not changed their ORANGE shirt from Thursday!
It was a great moment in OSU History!
Who knows, maybe 2009 could be a repeat with a team that never quits!
GIT-R-DONE!!!
Hope to see you there!
ORANGE-POWER!!!
