Based on the numerous boards constructed to feed off the NCAA bubble frenzy and talk shows discussing the same, there appears to be at least two arguments which have not been listed.
-Following the Baylor game, there was a protest regarding the final few minutes regarding the foul and lack of a foul call in the game. It seems to me that the Big12 responded that they would use this point if it became important for the post season prospects of OSU.
As a brief reminder, a foul was called on Anderson when all the replays showed no foul, and a charging foul that Page took was also not called. If either correct call had been made, OSU would already have 10 victories and there would be no discussion of being a bubble team.
-The second argument should deal with the fact we have a new coach. Our lack of an out of conference major win other than Tulsa and Siena is considered a weakness. A new coach will take time to implement their system. The better evaluation for this team should be the performance over the last 10 games versus the first 10 games of performance under the new coach when most of those out of conference games take place.
I was hoping that some of the pushback to Doug Gottlieb would have entailed these thoughts. I do believe behind the ESPN doors he champions our position. And, I believe that input from ESPN is used by the committee on the basis that their analysts and announcers have seen the entire college BB world. Entering these positioning arguments into the fray should help move us off the bubble and into the Dance.
