The packed Oklahoma State student section definitely knew about the NCAA Tournament implications of Tuesday night’s game. In addition to senior-night signs declaring their love for Terrel Harris and Byron Eaton, giant signs stated: "We want to go dancing” and "Moses lead us to the promised land.”
All-Century Team
As part of its celebration of 100 years of Oklahoma State basketball, OSU announced its All-Century Team on Tuesday. OSU put together a list of the top players from each decade, then had fans vote on the athletic department Web site to determine the top five players in school history.
The five fans voted for are Byron Houston, Bob Kurland, Desmond Mason, Tony Allen and Bryant Reeves. Houston, a 1992 All-American, remains the school’s all-time scoring leader with 2,379 points. Kurland was a three-time All-American in 1944, ’45 and ’46 and led Oklahoma A&M to both of its national championships. Mason, currently with the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, was a three-time All-Big 12 selection at OSU in the late 1990s. "Big Country” Reeves was a two-time All-American in 1994 and ’95 and led the Cowboys to the Final Four in 1995. Allen was an All-American in 2004, leading OSU to the Final Four that season.
Snacks on Ford
With Oklahoma State selling $10 student tickets to the last two home games, OSU coach Travis Ford provided the students who had already purchased season tickets with $10 concession stand vouchers Tuesday night. After the game, Ford also took the microphone, as he has done the last several home games, and thanked the crowd for its support.
Big man falls hard
OSU big man Marshall Moses lumbered into postgame interviews in obvious discomfort after falling flat on his back battling for a rebound late in the game. Moses, who notched his fifth double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, said his back was sore but OK.
Courtside Cowboy
Former Oklahoma State point guard Doug Gottlieb was the ESPN analyst for Tuesday night’s game. At halftime, Gottlieb made his way across the court and ran up into the stands to greet his former coach, Eddie Sutton. Sutton has been a regular at OSU games this season. Oklahoma City Thunder player Desmond Mason, who received many assists from Gottlieb as a player at OSU, was also in attendance.
Big shot
OSU junior Obi Muonelo’s minutes and stats have been limited lately, but he hit a critical shot late in Tuesday’s game. With 2:40 to play, OSU led by just two when Muonelo drained a 3-pointer that gave the Cowboys a five-point cushion. It was Muonelo’s only field goal in his 21 minutes on the floor.
