We really need KU to beat Texas on Saturday which should happen...and not get completely embarrassed by the mullets.

This is why Oklahoma State is a LOCK for the NCAA NOW!!!

NEVER in the history of the Big-12 has a team who:

1) Finished above .500 in league AND
2) Finished with a Top-50 RPI AND
3) Finished with 20 Div-1 wins

EVER been left out of the NCAA. In 57 out of 57 cases when ALL THREE of those criteria have been met, the team went DANCING...

OSU has met ALL THREE of the above NOW.

We are A LOCK for the NCAA!!!

Brings back memories.

In Bryant Reeves's Final 4 run, I had a feeling. I was living in NY, but went to KC for the Big 8, both sub-regionals, fortunately the Region finals were in my back yard, then went to Seattle. My Amex card was busting at the seems when we lost in Seattle, but that was some fun chit there.

That team and our subsequent final 4 team were worlds better than this one. But with this style of play, and a hot shooting night...........anything can happen on any night.

But in a similar fashion, a couple years ago, people said that never before had a team with 20+ wins and 10 conference wins in the Big XII been left out...and we all know how that worked out...

According the ESPN, the committee doesn't necessarily look at RPI as much as where you stand, but who you've beat...and when they showed OSU's top 3 wins as Texas, followed by Siena and Rhode Island, you might have some issues...

I personally think the Big XII gets five in, but I wouldn't be surprised if OSU doesn't make it in if they don't beat OU Saturday or win a couple in the Big XII tourney...

I also think we're a lock,BUT don't forget the NCAA isn't the nicest folks to us.....
. Last year finished ahead of Nebraska in Big12 standings, and beat NU head to head, but got sent to NIT AT Miami, while NU stayed in Lincoln.

. Women BBall deserved the OKC regional, BUT got sent to LSU,while someone else had OKC handed to em,yet failed at that oppurtunity.

. Year before last, baseballers got big time shafted and sent to regional at Louisville, instead of Allie P. Why? To showcase college baseball to new locations. Right, had nothing to do with the chairman( MSU AD ) being buds with the Louiserville AD,and yes MSU stayed and played in Starksville, not on the road.

. Andrew Oliver, nuff said as they won't forget this either.

. Riley one game suspension effective for one NCAA game.

Again,I think were in,but it's obvious to me,that the NCAA dosen't like us for some reason. Maybe it's cause we're a threat to their $$$$ child down south, maybe they just don't like Orange,etc...I dunno, but strange things have happened. I say lets keep things rolling, beat squat U on saturday, and win some tourny games, and remove any and all chances the NCAA has to screw us yet again.

I can't imagine people are calling us a lock when the best team we have beaten is a decent but not great Texas team. So if we get blown out by OU and lose in the first round of the Big 12 tournament we get in? This team still has work to do. Winning the past two games was a big step, but we need to win at least one more game and hope there aren't too many upsets next week in the conference tourneys that might reduce the number of at large spots available for us.

Listening to the post game show on the way home Ford said that to go dancing we needed to beat OU on Saturday or win to in the Big 12 Tournament. We are close, but not a lock yet.

Yea, just because it has never happened does not mean that it can't happen that a team with this record in those areas does not make it. The chances are pretty slim, but if everything lines up in a certain way it could happen that we still miss the tourney. Again, I feel we will make it, but I also know that mathematically there is a way that it could NOT happen, so they still need to keep focused on beating OU and then they'd definitely be a lock 100%.

Lock or no lock, keep winning and improve their chances and/or seeding!

And beat the GOONERS on Saturday!!!

I think it was KSU two years ago...went 22-11 and 10-6 in conference...everyone thought they'd be in because they had 10 wins in conference and also had 20 wins for the year, but they didn't make the tourney...

In 2006/07 KSU had 22 wins, an RPI of #56, playing a schedule with an #88 SOS ranking. The committee that year sent the message that just winning against a bad schedule was not the profile of a Tourney team. The KSU exclusion to me makes sense given their profile.

I think that is COMPLETELY different compared to an OSU team with 21 wins (with one of those in the Big-12 Trny), RPI of #27, playing a #11 SOS schedule.

No analogies (imho) can be drawn between KSU of 2007 and OSU of 2009.

OSU is a SOLID LOCK right NOW.....

I was going to say the same thing, Pokevette beat me to it...

For reference, I think we were 19-11 regular season, 6-10 in conference...went 2-1 in the Big 12 tournament with a RPI of 51. It was not a great year for the Big 12.

You are assuming a win in the Big 12 tourney, which is fine, but how can we be a "lock" if we still have to win another game? If we're a lock then we can lose the next two games and still get in and I think that's a reach. I don't think we have to beat OU on Saturday, but we definitely need to win at least one next week to get in. Plus you're not taking into account how many at-large spots can go away from upsets in conference tournaments. KU and OU are locks. We're not one yet.

We are a lock NOW with 20-wins. We are playing for seeding, not selection from this point forward.

I would never say never, I think we SHOULD be in, but it would take a freak event to knock us out.

Let's get there before we say we're there.

I agree....

If we get smoked by the goons, and lose our first Big12 game, I will be sweating bullets and watching to see what happens in the other tournaments.

That would put a big blow on how we did in our "last twelve"...

I still say we are a lock....but how in the heck can the goons still be considered a #1 seed after losing 3 of the last 4??!@?#?!?@@!!?? How does that even remotely make any sense....they aren't even going to be the #1 seed in the conference tournament!

It certainly helps that lots of bubble teams are losing late, how many last night?
