I want to say again just how glad i am we are all back together. When the old board suddenly went down, i was lost without the group of you. I look forward to logging on throughout the day to get a laugh, or to just see what you guys are up to. It's been a habit for years now, and it was a real bummer to not have that on a daily basis. I can't believe how much i missed it.
When i decided i'd get us back on our own board, and take this website thing on, the first thing i knew i wanted was someone i could trust to be my partner. It took about 2 minutes to decide that person would be Jessica (verb)... when i made the call to her, she was like "Let's DO IT!!" That was the easy part...
I never had a clue at all the work it would take to get it going. We'd have to buy the website, get it up and running, pay for software updates, pay for the design, pay someone to do the coding work, learn all the control panel stuff, etc.. This was never about being a huge board, it was about giving our family a place to once again call home. A place we would never lose.
Unlike other websites, we weren't afforded the luxury of having anyone behind us, or having onsite web guru's to give us any help. We were on our own. So, i had to hire it all out. It's been a little costly, but Jessica and i were commited to getting it done and getting everyone back. I had plans on never letting a soul step foot on this board until it was fully completed. I wanted the "WOW" factor. I wanted all of you to be proud. Well, after having one guy rip me off, and another keep telling me "one more day, one more day" we decided we just couldn't make you guys wait another day. We discussed it, and we opened the board. My thing was i just wanted everyone to know that changes were coming, and the board would look awesome when it was completed. We aren't there yet, there's still plenty of work to be done, but it will get finished. This whole web thing takes time and patience. I've learned that for sure!
The one thing i DON'T want to do, is come on the site and ask for money on a frequent basis. This site is NOT FOR PROFIT for either of us, and we didn't do it to make a ton of money, or to pay our monthly bills. We did it for all of us. We can take on all the costs to maintain the site ourselves. However, i did want to let everyone know that IF you would like to help Jessica and I get some of our money back, AND do some future work on the site (and it will be done this time) you can make a donation to the site. We don't have anyone on staff to do these things like the other boards do, but we'll make sure they get done. We are both dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make this a great place for our OSU family.
So if you'd like to help out, you can send a donation to my paypal account, or however else it would be convenient for you.

At the risk of sounding like a complete cornball, i'm going to steal one of Ty's lines from Extreme Home Makeover..

Wow! A couple of you responded almost instantaneously! That makes us feel really good. We truly appreciate it. Nice to know we're not alone with this crazy venture. :)

So what about a monthly recurring donation via credit card?

Wyo, i don't think Jessica or i either one would object to that. We have alot of things we want to do to the site. New banners to change out with each season (basketball, wrestling, baseball, etc) new graphics here and there, etc. The ideas i have for this site are wild! A little bit of help doing it would make it alot easier on us. I don't want ANYONE to feel obligated, or like we are begging for money. We'll take care of it either way. I know i speak for both of us when i say this is "our" board. We built this site for all of us. So with that said, if you want to help, we will welcome any donation.
You can pm me, and i can set it all up. I'll tell you this much, nobody has to worry that they will be scammed here.
Thanks for everything you guys.
Michelle and Jessica
PS: The board should look as it was intended to look in a few days. I'm excited.

So what about a monthly recurring donation via credit card?
What about a bake sale? I love chocolate chip cookies and would buy a couple dozen to help out the cause! ;)
Just noticed this post today, check your pay pal =]
Also Annie I may have someone that can help with graphics, PM or yahoo msg me (yahoo = ivan0734)

Do you guys have it set up where I can make a monthly donation, say on a certain day every month? I know with the last site, and have heard from others, that "sometimes" it would be taken out twice a month for the same amount. It's no big deal, I guess. I'm not, and this is probably going to sound retarded, but I'm not familiar with how Paypal works. I know paypal wasn't used on the old board unless you called it, "Gettin' Paid Pal". I kid. But, I was just curious.
I'm not sure of the answer to your question, Sea, and Michelle has taken a well-deserved evening off.
I can tell you this--paypal is easy even for a non-tech person like me. You can either link it to your bank account, or just have the amount you want to send charged to your credit card. Takes about 2 minutes to sign up for when you go to their website. So far, all the donations we've received (and for which we are humbly grateful) have been through paypal.
We definitely are NOT trying to make this website a for-profit effort, and I'm not sure that we'll ever be set up to take credit cards or anything like that. Michelle can fill you in further tomorrow on the best way to help.
While it's really sweet of you to want to help us out with the costs, the best thing is just to have you and all the rest of our family back HERE together again.

Thanks Verb, for the timely response.
What I'm asking, is, that if I set up an account with PayPal, can I have it just take my "donation" monthly without me having to "pay" it once a month? Sort of like automatic withdrawl method?
I said a lot of stuff without actually saying much, huh? :)
I'll go look at the paypal site and see if I can figure that out.

Verb / Michelle.....I would be interested in doing this as well.
I emailed PayPal about this. I couldn't find any answers just looking at their site. Hopefully, they'll let us know today.

I'm checking with Paypal as well. I know i'm going to add a paypal link here on the site, that you can just click on to pay, but i don't know about Paypal doing billing for a specific company on a monthly basis. I'm waiting to hear back as well.
There is a built in subscription service on this site, in the control panel. It can be set up to take monthly payments, i'm pretty sure. I'm checking into it now.
I appreciate all the interest in helping out with the site. Very much.

I was a semi-regular visitor to the O-State.com site a few years ago when we played each other for three years straight, and really came to respect Oklahoma State, its fans and all it stands for. Heck, Ryno (I guess it was him) gave me the tag "coolest non-OSU fan" which I considered a great honor (and still do).
When the news first hit that Fedora may be our new head coach, that was the first site I went to, and I was sad to see it wasn't there, and I obviously have no idea why. I am glad I found this new version of the site!
Best of luck in everything, Cowboys (and girls)!

I don't see any way to post a "Poll". Is there some way to do it? If not, are you planning on adding that option in the future.
You've done a very good job but the Poll is one feature I miss.
There is a way to post a poll. Someone did it! Check the customer service thread.

I would like to welcome the newbies as well and compliment Annie pokely on the wonderful job that she's done too.

Thank you ace, but i can't take the credit alone. I have a wonderful partner in crime, and her name is Verb.
I notice you live in Apache. I guess you know Maury(Mo Betta) Tate? I know him well. He ropes with another good friend of mine, Gary Randall.

Annie I didnt know you knew Maurry . i went to school with his sisters back in the 70's his dad was killed in a car wreck about two months ago . but maurry is realy cool and his sisters were nice ladies. my mom use to sow shirts for him back when mo betta first started. i have heard of garry randall but never met him. the mo betta quail hunt is comming up and sometimes football players from ou and osu show up . wess welker was at one event and i didnt get to meet him. its almost comical that dolphin player comes to my hometown and i dont even know about it until a week later.
oh well i am the last one to learn about anything in my own family (ha,ha) much less elsewhere.
robert nunn is from apache and graduated from osu as i was going into the navy.
