Does anyone recall how many football season tickets OSU sold last year? I was wanting to know to see how this year's compares. Thanks!

Ticket policy changing little

For the 2009 football season, Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder confirmed on Monday, the Cowboy athletic department will have a ticket policy similar to the one that resulted in this year's school-record sales total.

In 2007, OSU sold 33,400 season tickets.

In an effort to increase sales, OSU introduced a new policy this year — admittance to the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State Bedlam game would be open only to season-ticket holders. The result was a school-record sales total of 39,823.

Holder reports that 2,886 season tickets were sold after the season had begun.

During the final 10 days before the Bedlam contest (a 61-41 Sooner triumph at Boone Pickens Stadium), OSU sold 170 season tickets.

"Football season-ticket sales are critical to the future of OSU athletics," Holder said.

"Limiting attendance for the 2008 Bedlam football game to purchasers of season tickets was an important factor in our increased season ticket sales.

"Therefore, we are committed to a similar policy for the 2009 season."

Holder said OSU has not determined which 2009 game will be designated as the premium game.

Included on the Cowboys' 2009 schedule are home dates with Georgia, Missouri, Texas and Texas Tech. Each of those teams was ranked in the Associated Press' top five at some point during the 2008 season.

Oklahoma State's season-ticket school record had been 38,674, set during the 2004 season.

Thanks! With the schedule, I would hope OSU could get close to 50,000.

wow, aren't you a dreamer.... it went up a whopping 6,100 last year to an all-time record, now you're expecting an additional 10,00 on top of that?

I hope that you are correct... let's dream big!

It IS the best home schedule ever for OSU! Add to that the opening of Boone Pickens and a team that will contend for Big 12 and national titles!

Seems to me OSU fans should be jumping at the chance to be a part of this season!

re: opening of BPS; apparently Holder said today that the bottom row of suites will not be built out for the opener because 1) they haven't been sold, and 2) we don't have the money.

.... something about taking out a $35 million dollar bond to finish the WEZ.

Where's Bigbird when you need him? ;)

with the economy the way that it is, I think you'll find that the cheap WEZ tickets will be sold out, and not as many as you would hope will step in and buy full price tickets, especially those with donor fees.

Personally, I would be thrilled with 5,000 additional season tickets.

Well, I know of two additional tickets purchased for this season! We bought four instead of two so my son can bring a friend to the games.

I'm probably way too optimistic, but hey, I think we're going to win all the games too!
