My 2year old nephew is having a bone marrow test this morning. The doctors are looking for Leukemia. He has had a lot of tests these past few weeks and they have found nothing so far but all the symptoms he has is consistent with having leukemia. He is in so much pain and has lost so much weight, if this test is negative then they can rule out cancer. He is going to have a rough day and if you could pray for him I would appreciate it.

Thank you, he weighs less than 20lbs now. It will take more than what he has to fight anything off.

Well he is done with his procedure, but still not totally awake due to anasthetics(sp?). We will not know any results until possibly tonight but most likely Monday. Whenever he wakes up a little all he says is owie. I guess thats good because I would be saying a lot more than that after getting a monster needle jammed into my hipbone.

I hope and pray for good results and he isn't in too much pain.

The pain he is in with or without the needle. Hopefully it will be negative that way we can go on to look for a non life threatening cause of all of his extreme pain in his bones. Thanks for the prayers gang.
Oh, the poor little thing. His parents must be in agony. I will pray for him, and for them, throughout the day. That just breaks my heart...

Just got really good news gang. There was no cancer of any kind. The marrow tests are very telling and they may finally have a diagnosis but it will have to come from another doctor because the one that ordered all the cancer tests cant diagnose it. It sound like something either flared up in his joints when he was sick or it is juvenile rheumatiod arthritis. Whatever it is it looks like he is going to live, which about 5 days ago I would have never dreamed he would see his next birthday. Anyway thanks for the prayers and I will update information as it comes.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Wow tears of joy.....!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been a while.

Thank you. The thought of burying one more family member this year was almost mre than I could take. Especially a baby.
God does answer prayers! The best news I've heard in a long time--give him a hug for us (but gently, gently...).

That is funnier than you know. Because I kind of stand out in my family due to the fact that I am about twice the size of anyone else. Its like a grizzly bear among squirrels. He has not let me pick him up for a long time because he thinks I am too big and will hurt him. He said yesterday "he will hurt me" when i tried to hug him or hold him while his dad had to do something. So he gives me kisses and handshakes instead.:D

Great news, I'm so thankful it wasn't cancer! I'll never understand why kids have to suffer from that disease. :(

I am so glad your nephew doesn't have cancer. Hopefully, they will be able to figure something out for certain really soon. My heart sank when I read your first post. I have a 2 year old little girl myself. I thought about your family and his parents and what they must be feeling. I am sure they are having a hard time. I will definitely keep them in my thoughts and prayers, especially your nephew for a super speedy recovery.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

No updates on a diagnosis yet. Apparently the doctors know what it is. The Oncologist will not tell them because it isn't cancer and she can't diagnose it. Whatever medicine they are giving him, it is working. Friday we had a dinner at my brother's house and he was acting like nothing was wrong (except the giant needle that went into him). Saturday he came over to my house and played with my kids for about 2 hours. He is weak and cannot walk very well or very long but he had fun but wanted to go home because he got tired. I also fed him lunch. That may not sound like much but he went about 3 days without eating at all and for about 2 weeks he would just take bites here and there. So when he said he wanted hotdogs, the man got hotdogs. The thought is that it is delayed onset inflammation(I cant remember the actual name). This happens after they get sick and doesn't show up for about 2 weeks. On webmd it says intense pain but should totally go away in about 16 weeks and the symptoms are a lot like leukemia. If it is not that then it is arthritis, so lets root for the first one. I will update when they know for sure.:D

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about this yesterday, but didn't want to ask just in case.
It will be good news, and the boy will be good as new in no time! Keep us updated, ok?
Prayers still headed their way.

This turned out to be the case!! They found that he had streap throat. He had no symptoms or sore throat or anything. Untreated streap throat can cause delayed onset of joint inflammation. they are slowly taking him off all of his medications (steroids) and he has started gaining weight fairly rapidly. Thank you all for the prayers and the well wishes, this shows that God does answer prayers.:D
