View Full Version : FB late signing?
Did we pick up a JuCo CB as a late sign for 2009?
I tried Rivals and other boards and did see a thread mention
of it but couldn't confirm it.
Also has anyone figured the numbers (with loss of WR's,
2 linemen, etc,) how many 'ships' we should have for 2010?
Thanks for the input,
BUG

The article about it says Feb 27 signing... so perhaps it's still to come.

Probably it is Jeremy Brown, the California JC - DB that no one had heard of when he verbally committed to us last year. Has a 4.38 forty time. Go Pokes!!!

He hasn't signed his letter yet, and no, the kid is from Pa.
We will have a full class of 25 when its all said and done for 2010.
Now looking like we'll take TWO more in this 2009 class.
Hope they are BIG time!

Where did you pick up that tid-bit?
There was an article that said two visitors this weekend; one a new recruit and one that had already signed a LOI but had not visited.
Is that what you're referring to?
CC:
Yep...that was the ref/thread I picked up.
I guess it is no wonder since we did ,all of a sudden, have openings, huh?
And did you ever hear what happened with the wr out of Guthrie?
Right now it looks like we could have 26 or 28 ships for next season (2010 Class)
Again anyone REF. the wr from Guthrie???
And looks like a CB and WR to add to the class of 2009...and
what's the deal with Oku to Neb.?

Sounds like Oku is wanting to be close to his girlfriend but he hasn't committed to NU. Weird situation. Makes Jai Lucas look like a decisive fellow.
Kid from Guthrie...the wr... Did he ever sign with a school or is he
still considering OSU... Thanks

he can consider OSU all he wants, OSU has not, and will not offer. One of the two kids in this weekend already signed with us on signing day, the other is suppose to sign
Thanks Mark...I'm out of state but had just heard that the kid sure
might be worth the offer???

He came in to meet with the coaches before signing day, and the word on the street was that he was not as strong or big as they thought. I would have taken a shot, but I think the staff thinks they can find better options, and use the scholly for next years class.
My understanding is he had an offer from Rice
Again Thanks Mark...related subject, 2010 early commits,
looks like we'll just have the 2 qb's for Feb. early commitments.
I was sure hoping the ball what start rolling early and we'd get
real filled by the end of June (still time but it needs to start
soon huh?).

IMO, there may be some wanting to commit now but perhaps our coaches would prefer for them to wait (?) as they then become a relentless target for "other" recruiters (?). We have repeatedly learned that lesson in the past... Go Cowboys!!!

JBug, looks like the Eargle kid has committed to us. He has the speed and skills to be special, don't know why he is only a one*. Go Cowboys!!!
Add Nelson as a WR to the 2010 list...yea we are Up to 3 early commits

The article said he played QB last year so that may have something to do with his rating. It sounded like he was forced to paly QB, not his natural position. I also think he may have 3 years eligiblity left, but again, I'm guessing based on my interpretation of what I read.

I had read the he played CB his first year, but switched to QB last year because that's what the team needed him to do...
meaning 2 years of eligibility.
