when we finally have a respectable men's basketball team again.
I could go off on a rant (and may still do it) but I just don't give a damn anymore about OSU men's basketball. I've been a diehard fan since 87 when I started college at OSU and I've been through good and bad times but the state of the program right now along with the attitudes of the players just make me sick.:vomit-smiley-001::vomit-smiley-001::vomit-smiley-001:

I just don't get what we are trying to accomplish on the court. Here we were down 13, 1:40 left and we're letting them burn 35 sec. every trip down instead of sending them to the line????? Then, with 39 sec. left our coach yells "hey Obi, you freaking idiot!" (clearly audible on TV) accross the court like he's still trying to win the game when it's obvious that he gave up with several minutes left. These players aren't this bad to lose like that.

After awhile, after being kicked around by most of the B12, it would be hard for me to to muster much "fire in the belly" knowing that regardless of what I did the team would most likely lose. I don't know how the Thunder, for example, can keep up the pace night after night knowing they are one of the worst teams in the NBA, but they seem to be able to do it. Perhaps that is the difference between being a professional and being a collegiate player. I'm not saying this is a throw-away season, but what do you say to 18 year old kids to get them to play with greater intensity? I'll always watch the games, but I would like to see more (efficient) effort every game. But hey!!! the women's softball team looks like it might have a really good team!!!!

I've been at work all day and just logged on but I take it from these posts that we lost today.
We did, but only by 11, and KU is 8 and 0 in conference play. I don't see any shame in that. I still have hope for the guys.

Our style kills me. Get down by 10-15 within the first 10 minutes of the game and then stratch and claw and hope to fight our way back. Ford's recruits will measure his success this season, but in the meantime it really sucks to watch us get humped twice a week.

What really kills me is the one stupid shot after another and the fact that our defense is simply just horrible especially at the point. To play decent defense, the players must have the desire to do so and I don't see that this year. Plus, where is the leader on the floor. It should be the point guard or at least a senior and it isn't there.
Damn it, I'm starting to rant and get ticked off again. :vomit-smiley-001:

I've said before, if we can just keep from spotting them 15 to 20 points we'd win a few more games.

I agree BHP. Every game we get down by 10-15, then start playing. UUUUGGGHH. That's the worst thing of all, not comnig out and [playing with intensity. It's like we wait to see how the other team is gonna play then adjust our level to right below our opponents.

I have been trying to give Ford the benefit of the doubt, but I just don't think he is that good. He has talked about playing good defense, but I don't see it. His offensive philosophy seems to be run it up and down the court and jack up a lot of threes. I could coach as well as he seems to and I would do it for 10% of the money he is making.
I had a hard time watching some of the games the past few years under Sean, but at least they played defense. I think Holder just couldn't wait to get rid of Sean, and now we are suffering from it. Hopefully, Ford will get it going in a few years when he gets his own recruits. Til then....ouch!

How many games have you watched this season? We have had spurts of some really good defense. The problem is then we turn right around and play some of the worst defense imaginable...
The issue is consistency. This tells me that the coach has a defense and once he has the correct players and enough of them we will again have a defense to be proud of. Has everyone forgotten that we are only 3/4ths of the way through Fords first season. I personally hate the current society attitude of MUST WIN NOW...

Ford was praising our defensive effort against Kansas, holding them under 50%... it was our offense that suffered in that game, not the defense. I just it because it was our most recent game.
