that you won't see anywhere else. Actually, most of this info came from the BB game. I was pretty excited about the athletism Horace Hubbard would bring to the DT spot until I heard he could only bench 250. That won't cut it in the Big 12. Glass has his work cut out for him between now and August. I realize that taller guys often don't bench as well as the barrel chested , shorter armed guys but a DT that can not press his weight is pathetic.
On the flip side, Swanson is weighing 318 right now and plans to play around 305 this fall. If he improves from junior season to senior season like Mcbean and Tea, he will be a monster.
Russell Okung is still wearing a brace on his wrist from an injury in the Oregon game. It will be fine for spring practice. He said he never considered leaving because he planned on returning to finish the job they did not get done last fall(winning a Big 12 championship). More than one upper classman talked about this. Last season's bracelets seemed to be more of a dream while this season has a chance to be reality.
I can't even talk about how serious Zac's concussion was(plus a shoulder separation). I don't ever want to see this kid criticized again. He is the toughest football player to play at OSU since Walt Garrison and I have lived long enough to see some tough one's(Dickie Graham, Rick Antle, etc). His listed size at 6'3" by 205 may be exaggerated but his heart at 6'6" and 310 is a reality.
Last story. An offensive coach told me the three keys he thought to have a chance to win the Big 12(besides all of the coach speak stuff like avoiding injuries, getting a few breaks in big games, etc). Are you ready for this? His 3 keys were Swanson Miller, Donald Booker, and Lucein Antwoine. He thought if we could get monster years from these three kids we could win the Big 12. Miller is a possibilty(see above). I asked where Booker would start at(LB, DE) and he did not think Booker would start but be used in several specialty situations. His biggest question mark was Antwoine but not because of the rehab from injury but from his lack of reps against Big 12 competition. There is no doubt that contibutions from these three upper classmen would go a long way towards making our defense much better this fall.
