Is it all about "glitz 'n glitter" offense? Do we have a coach in any of these sports that has a freakin' clue about coaching "D"? Makes me want to get into coaching.:wow2:

We had one coach who preached defense daily. Pretty much kept the athletic department alive for the better part of the 90s.

I think we need to withhold judgment on the MBB team for a little bit and see what direction the team takes.

The roster we have right now seems to be a bunch of scorers. Maybe Im wrong but I cant think of any true defensive players......

I think we should withhold judgment on HCTF until he at least gets one full recruiting class in. He may just be running the team to use its strengths, and right now it seems the strengths are scorers.

I dunno, just a thought.

I think it's going to take longer than one class for defense... they don't teach it in HS, so they've got to learn it after they arrive, and it takes longer than one year to get good at it.

... but more than that, it takes desire to play defense and we've only had a couple of guys in the past with that desire.

Exactly. Im not saying one class will fix it. I guess I didnt word my response the way I should have.

What I was getting at is that we need to see what kind of players he recruits before we can pass judgement.

Every new coach needs a little time.

And it takes a coach to teach it -- not sure HCTF has put enough emphasis on defense. And defense takes desire and discipline -- like Cali said, not sure there is enough of that in the players.

That only counts if he was "basically running the program for the past 5 years".
