I didn't write this, but I wish I had!!!
Growing up in the state of Oklahoma you have to be an OU fan on some
level. If you are like me you root for them anytime they are not playing
against our beloved POKES.
Last night as things started to unravel early and often for OU I felt an
uncontrollable grin show up on my face. After a couple more WV scores it
turned into light laughter. I started thinking to myself, why does this
humor you....what part of this could possibly be making you happy. OU
and the big 12 are getting hammered in another BCS bowl, this is not
good.
After another WV score I turned to the spouse and asked "why are we both
happy that OU is getting it handed to them"? And to both of us the
answer became very clear and it is one obvious thing beyond all others.
WE HATE OU FANS>
As people, they are some of our closest friends, relatives, and
collegues, but as football fans they are some of the biggest front
runners and sorest losers in the college game today . They play the
fight song and talk continuous smack day in and day out and always have
something bad to say about the Cowboys program, even though they are
from Oklahoma as well. Then the day after a game like last night...which
has happened 4 years in a row, there is a hush over the crowd, they
don't want to talk about the game or what happened or that they could
have actually legitimately lost....another huge bowl game. I truly feel
sorry for them.
As an OSU alum and fan you are always reminded of what being humble in
the big time world of college sports is about. It is never easy to be an
OSU fan and we all know....no lead is safe when there is time left on
the clock.
I will sum this up by saying I would love to see a football national
championship come to our beloved Cowboys, but if it doesn't we will not
hang our heads, we are the true version of a great champion. Humble in
defeat as well as in victory.
GO POKES!!
P.S. Please don't send this to an OU fan, I know you wont, we are not
the type to feed the fire.
