Is it just me, or is it sounding like Burgess might get off (wrong choice of words) this deal?
What are your thoughts on the trial so far?

to be honest, i have so busy i haven't read all of the articles. not to mention it is so repulsive and i think he is guilty as hell, i don't care to waste my time on the details.
There is always the possibilty, I guess. The stuff about one of the women keeping a picture of him in her house was bizarre and could make people doubt her, as well as some of the women appearring to be interested in making money on the deal. I can't imagine anyone letting him off but then again everyone i know thinks he is guilty. I heard this morning closing arguments could begin today.

Yea, KFOR said it would go to the jury today.
His wife testified on his behalf yesterday, saying he was recovering from neck surgery when he was supposed to be with one of these girls. I don't know how she kept a straight face. Funny, people saw him at the golf course during this same time. Anyone that's ever been at the golf course when he's there (and boozed off his butt) knows how he treated the "beer girls"
Do you see a lawsuit filed against the county if he's found innocent?
Anyway... I guess we'll know soon enough.

i wouldnt be surprised if they file a lawsuit against the county, but i hope not. We were talking about what would happen if the county did have to pay out. Apparently there is insurance they would hit first and then something else and it could eventually hit landowners if it was high enough.
I will be pissed if we have to pay for his sex life. Doesn't seem fair we can't get a bond issue passed but may be forced to pay for this clowns mistakes. I doubt it will go that deep, but def a possibilty.
Heard they took him to Roger Mills County until sentencing. Apparently the jail there is pretty swanky and pretty empty for a county jail.
you aren't working at all are you? I had something fly up on the highway and trash my passenger mirror. I need to get estimates. It may have to wait until after bball season though.

He was only convicted on the charges involving Joy and Brenda. I would assume, only those two could pursue legal action against the county, but I could be dead wrong.
Randy Meacham said the judge could choose to give the 94 year sentence, or could give him ten years. It's all up to him.
I haven't worked since May. I still do all the bookwork/payroll/taxes/etc, but Bill brings it home and I do it here. I can't leave my mom alone. Dustin is doing all the estimating. He'll be glad to get you fixed up on it. Just let me know when you are going down there, and I'll give them the heads up.

i think any of them could go after the county in a civil case (ie not claiming county criminally negligent). Think of Nicole Brown Simpsons family suing OJ after the acquital.
However, I doubt any of the others would at this point.
There will be some lawyer somewhere that will take it on if they want to. I wouldn't. It will take forever and I am pretty sure I would want to get on with my life.
A couple people I have talked to are concerned about the appeals process. They don't think the judge was very good and might have left the door open with a couple of things he said.
