View Full Version : Recruits this WEEK end...
Man we have some great kids lined up for the tour of OSU/ Stilly
this week.
Sure hope Brewer situation, nor the lack of a DC throw a wrench
into things.
Anyone...let us know if you hear some good news coming out
of Stilly this week end.

Something has to happen on the DC front soon. It's been approx 45 days since Beckman left and almost 3 weeks since the Holiday Bowl. We are coming up on the final push for recruiting and you'd think that having the DC on campus during these visits would be helpful. I'm not as concerned about home visits but having the new DC around campus on these visits I think would be beneficial.
Here's hoping we hear something today.

I'm not sure how much of an issue it is. Gundy said he would like to have somebody named before the conference, but that didn't happen; but it's only a week or two slid from that timeline; and he has had some significant other staffing distractions during that timeframe, in addition to increased recruiting responsibilities due to the decrease in staffing.
Somebody posted the other day that it would possibly only impact 2-3 recruits since we don't have that many spots remaining and some of them will be offensive positions.
I'm anxious to see what direction we go with a DC, but I don't think the impact is anything near what some people are suggesting.
Fri. eve and I would guess it will be Sunday before we hear any thing
on commits...
Those of ya in the Okla. area/Stilly please let us know
if you know of commitments prior to the kids leaving.
Thanks,

Oklahoma State is really needing to secure some more help at the cornerback position in the 2009 recruiting class and this weekend they got it in the form of Lancaster, Texas product DeMontre Hurst. The 5-11, 170-pound speedy Hurst had 80 tackles and five interceptions this past season and is considered to be one of the better cornerback prospects in Texas.http://oklahomastate.scout.com/a.z?s=181&p=2&c=831351&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2foklahomastate.scout.com% 2f2%2f831351.html

I was sure wanting to see about 3 or 4 additions (big timers) added
to one of those listings...:cool2:
It is starting to get late in the 'recruiting game' so I sure
hope we land a couple of 4 stars with our remaining 'ships'.
One can always dream can't one ???
Go Pokes

we've gotten so many 4-star kids the past few years that have not been all-world beaters, that I've totally quit looking at star ratings.

Hurst is bigtime. Our staff think he is better than Lynn, and have thought that well before Lynn went to OU.
Look for info that Pratt committed tonight as well. Former LSU committ. big 6'2, 225 pound rb, that many think will become a great lb at the next level.

Hurst, Pratt, and Gunther stays. It has been a good weekend
VERY nice week end huh? Seems the Pokes are getting some
AMMO...even the soonies are not liking what is happening
in Stilly!!!
And by the by...DID ROLLINSON even show up?

Rollison did not show up. Don't look for him to sign before signing day. He may wait and sign after signing day with a team that has a spot available, IF he can get qualified.
I guess it doesn't look good for him to get qualified. We may still be a player for him, but it may be coming to an end as well.
We have the Sand Springs kid, Deaton for 2010. I think he's a sure commit, and there is a stud in Texas they are on hot and heavy as well for 2010.
Hey CJ;
Still one or two from the week end that could yet commit, huh?
By the by CJ:
Ya think the likelyhood of Young joining the Pokes had an
influence on Hurst (CB) and the RB/LB'er out of Texas...???

It could since Hurst is looking at Miami, but word is that 700,000 number is just rumor. He may not even accept the job, so I don't really know.
Hurst has always liked OSU though.
I think we may see 1 or 2 more from the weekend visitors, but they are still going to go on a visit or two the next couple weeks, so its up in the air still.
We've got about 4-5 more to sign. Gonna be selective. DT, LB, DB, WR, maybe an OL............????
