COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Seattle Seahawks receivers coach Nolan Cromwell was named Texas A&M's offensive coordinator Saturday.

Cromwell will join the Aggies and new coach Mike Sherman after the Seahawks' season ends. Seattle beat Washington 35-14 in an NFC wild-card game Saturday and will play at Green Bay next weekend.

"I have known Nolan Cromwell since I first went to Green Bay," said Sherman, former head coach of the Packers. "He has always impressed me as a great teacher and passionate coach."

Cromwell made the Pro Bowl four times in 11 seasons as a defensive back with the Los Angeles Rams. He's been to the Super Bowl once as a player and three times as a coach -- with Green Bay in 1996 and '97 and Seattle in 2005.

After six seasons as special teams coach in Green Bay, he became the Packers' receivers coach in 1998. He has been Mike Holmgren's receivers coach in Seattle since 1999, and he served with Sherman under Holmgren in Green Bay.

"I've learned a lot from Mike [Sherman] over the years, and I have found him to be a tremendous problem-solver," Cromwell said. "He is a high-energy guy, and I look forward to working with him."

Cromwell started his coaching career as an assistant with the Rams in 1991.

So I am guessing that they will be bringing the west coast offense to college station.

Maybe not. I remember him as a tough Big 8 QB.

Nolan Cromwell, nicknamed "The Ransom Rambler", was an All-America quarterback for the University of Kansas Jayhawks. In 1976, he set an NCAA record for quarterbacks, which has since been broken, by rushing for 294 yards in a game.

Maybe not but I'm guessing they will because Cromwell has coached under Holmgren for a while now so did Sherman. When Sherman coached Green Bay he ran a west coast offense he used a little more of a run game than a traditional west coast offense.
