I'm soooooooo confused.

From the TW: "With the Matthews promotion, two positions — defensive coordinator and running backs coach — remain open on coach Mike Gundy's staff.

While in Nashville, Tenn., for this week's American Football Coaches Association convention, Gundy is expected to interview candidates for the defensive coordinator position.

Believed to be on OSU's candidates list are Bill Young of Miami (Fla.), Dick Bumpas of TCU, Greg Hudson of East Carolina, Ellis Johnson of South Carolina and Brad Lambert of Wake Forest."

He didn't say he wasn't interested. He just said it was "premature hype". IMO, that's kind of nonspeak speak, trying to say nothing without keeping your mouth shut. When will it be mature hype? Sounds like contact may have been made but an official interview has not occurred. Or amybe I'm just reading waaay to much into this>

Cowboys LB coach has not interviewed with Oklahoma St.

IRVING — Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Reggie Herring was on vacation last week in Key West, Fla., and returned to the surprise of rumors he had accepted the Oklahoma State defensive coordinator position.

No truth to it, Herring said Monday evening.

Herring has not interviewed with the Cowboys and has not had any contact with Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. In addition, Oklahoma State has not requested permission from the Cowboys to interview Herring, who has two years remaining on his three-year contract.

Herring just completed his first year in Dallas and plans to attend the Senior Bowl workouts in Mobile, Ala., with the coaching staff next week to evaluate draft prospects.

"I have not interviewed with Oklahoma State, and I have not had contact with Mike Gundy," Herring said. "Nobody has offered me a job at Oklahoma State. It’s as simple as that."

While he has not spoken with anyone officially with Oklahoma State, Herring did say a school representative made an exploratory phone call to him last week.

Herring does have extensive experience as a college defensive coordinator, including stops at TCU, Clemson, North Carolina State, Arkansas and for one month with Texas A&M before joining the Cowboys.

His coaching career began at Oklahoma State as an assistant under former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson from 1981-1985

Herring was a 'wild' man when he coached for Jimmy J...

Many a time he would berate players, XXX'em out in front
of God and the team, and phsically throw them around the
field. I would guess, and hope, he has changed a bunch.
He did a great job at Posse meetings/speaking to the
alums, etc. but don't think the current young folk
would put up with the old Reggie

Possible scenario, Gundy talks to Herring's Agent, so Herring has never interviewed, but you can gauge interest. Do you expect any coach to say, "Hey, I am thinking of leaving"?

After watching some of the performances we have put up on the defensive side of the ball, a boot in their ass is exactly what they need.

If a college athlete gets his feelings hurt by being berated by a coach, they are in the wrong profession.

Maybe he has changed, because the players at Arkansas loved him and were upset he was not given the head coaching gig after Nutt was ousted.

If a college kid from Texas or Oklahoma won't listen to a former coach on the Dallas Cowboys staff, he better have the talent of Reggie White/ Michael Strahan/ Ronnie Lott/ and Junior Seau combined.

As far as no one contacting the Dallas Cowboys to get permission to speak with Herring, didn't MH hire Ford without getting permission from UMass ad?
