With all the great DL we've had over the years, it doesn't seem like OSU has ever been without a dominant DL.
Just a few:
Jerry Sherk, John Ward, Philip Dokes, John Washington, Dexter Manley, Jason Gildon, Jason Lankford, Jaqua Thomas, Leslie O'Neil, Kevin Williams, Jamal Williams.
I'm sure there are some I am missing but why are we struggling so much to get a dominant player? Has the style of play changed where different skills are required? Maybe this is the year we get another great linemen.

Manley didn't play DL... and that's only about a dozen guys from over 3 decades of football.... hmmmm....

Dexter Manley and Dexter Manley II were defensive ends in college.

Let's hope Oregon helped his son learn to read.

Sorry if I confused the issue, I was using a generic DL rather than DL, DT or DE. The list I included were just a few I could think of with no aids. It seems to me there has been very few times in the last few decades where we didn't have a dominant DL, DE.
Here's the guys that went on to play in the NFL. I forgat a bunch of themlike John Little, LaWaylon Brown, Antonio Smith. Calvin Miller, etc.

I never considered Juqua as a dominant Player.

IMO, the DT is the most sought after recruit out there, and to be honest, there are very few of them to pick from.

As the game progresses and you take a look at the playing weights of those former greats and you'll see they were smaller. Instead of being 270 to 290, they now look for 300 pounders, or those who can grow into that ball park in playing weight

I think we got some good redhsirts coming off this year and have a few guys that gained some good experience this year. I look for improvement on the line next year.

I think I saw him playing yesterday for one of the NFL teams. Isn't he the guy that changed his name to Parker a year or so ago to honor his father?

Why it's Turner Gill, who beat the Cowboys that day 34-24. The Cowboys loss 4 games that year going 8 and 4.

In the other 3 losses Iowa State scored 15 points, Oklahoma scored 24 and Florida State scored 34, which was not bad, not bad at all.

Actually, from the roster in the back of that program, the Husker pictured would be 2nd team QB Travis Turner, a 6'3" 215-lb senior from Scottsbluff, NE. :) Can you name our Nose Guard? I had to look it up.

:o Yes, Gill's last year as a Husker was 1983. He was playing in Canada in 1985. And his number was 12 not 14. And I bet the word Gill is on the back of this jersey.

Can't forget Sim Drain III .. one of my favorite OSU players of all time.. DL from the late 80's..... came to my school and read to my class... came over for dinner a couple of times....

Just a cool cat and a physical D-Lineman

Just a SWAG(as in Super WAG) - John Washington. I can't remember if he was a DT or NG.

John Washington is no. 80 on that cover. No. 69 is NG Marvin Hawkins. :)

Thought Sim was a line backer.

Thought Sim was a line backer.

Sim was a linebacker. I went to Stillwater High with him back in the mid 80's. He played linebacker at SHS and at O-State.
