I am not sure how Gundy is planning on making things work with scholarships but I can say that something is going to have to change. I did a little math and I show we currently have 30 commits (juco signed already) and we have approximately 62 players on scholarship right now. That equals to 92 players and the limit is 85. I am pretty sure we can only sign 28 so that means 2 of our commits are either going to be told sorry no scholly, or at least 2 are expected to end up at juco. Also that 30 is taking off Spano so don't ask about him and doesn't currently leave room for Owens if he comes. Either way I am sure we max out the 28 so that means their are 5 players on the roster right now that won't have a scholly next year. I already took off the players who have stated they are leaving such as Reid, Waller, Newton (and the kicked off guys) to get to the 62. The other possibles would be Pettigrew, Ricks, Broadway, and I thought I heard one of the fullbacks was leaving (burton maybe). But even if all of those are gone their is still one more...

The point of all this is that it looks like by Gundys actions of getting all these commits he is some combination of the following:

- going to pull some offers
- planning a bunch to go juco
- losing Pettigrew and some others
- some commits to switch before signing day

And from the looks of things a little bit of each of these may be needed.

I think they always count on 1 or 2 to not qual, 1 or 2 to swap last minute, and will always have some trick up their sleeve with paperwork shuffle to get 1 or 2 more. I do think they might have to yank 1 or 2 when it is all said and done.

I know he has told two to look else where and one that they want him but he will be a walkon for one year.

Who?

i do not remember the names of the two but they were told before Spano. The one that was asked to walk for the first year only is a family member who is still undecided.

Spano and 1 other (can't remember who) were told we did not have an EARLY scholarship for them to come to campus in the Spring. We did NOT pull our scholarships from them. We told them they both could still come in the Spring if they wanted to pay their own way.
