In today's society, a man's word is worth, well, about nothing. You can say anything, promise anything and then you can wiggle, finagle, rationalize or just flat out excuse yourself from your promise or obligation. Integrity, character and sticking to one's word is more of an exception than the rule in this world today.

Mike Holder, OSU's athletic director, made a promise/policy -- anyone who wants to attend the OSU/ou football game this year can IF he or she buys an OSU football season ticket. Mike didn't say this to exclude OSU or ou fans from the game. He said it to increase the sale of OSU football season tickets. If you bought season tickets in May, October or yesterday, you get to go to the game. It is a very simple and clear policy and one he has stuck to to this day.

People have guessed that Holder would bow to pressure and renege on his policy. Not a chance! People have suggested Holder would bend his policy/word to allow OSU season ticket holders to purchase extra tickets. No way! People have rumored Holder was going to give extra tickets to veterans and civil servants. Nope. Sports talk shows, newspapers and television stations and fans from both sides have griped, whined, questioned Holder, and dissected Holder's policy ad nauseum, and yet, Holder hasn't budged. He is a man of his word.

There may be 8,000 to 10,000 empty seats for the Bedlam game this Saturday. So what? Those people had an opportunity (and still do, I might add) to go to the game. Buy a season ticket! It would have been more beneficial for them to have purchased OSU season football tickets before the season and have enjoyed six OSU home victories coming into Saturday's Bedlam game (or sold the tickets) but they chose not to. Now their season is down to one game and it sounds too expensive but that's their own doing not Holder's.

One last thing and it is kind of ironic but isn't it interesting that a certain faction of people who are complaining are the same people whose team nickname is synonymous with saying one thing and doing something else? And they have the gall to criticize Mike Holder for keeping his word? Please!

Go Pokes!

It is late but to be clear the "Please!" was meant to be a statement like "Get real!" not a statement of endorsement for Holder to change his policy.

The more Gooners bitch, the more I love it. And MH only did the goon fans the favor of not allowing them to watch us beat them once again when it matters most.

One thing to remember also. A change in the policy would open the university to all kinds of law suits from those that bought "SEASON TICKETS".

I've got mine, just wish I could have purchased more... I'm still considering it.

Are you in Oklahoma now or on the road to here?

We made it to Tulsa very early in the morning Tuesday (3:00 am) on a trip that would have made the Griswalds cringe... then Wednesday night the baby (2-yr old grandson living with us) hurled all over the bed and floor, making another late night, then a 4:00 he woke up screaming and we took him to St Francis... turns out he has an ear infection, so nothing serious...

I'm looking forward to the game, but it looks like it's going to be pretty darn cold. I'm going to have to find FloridaPoke's tailgate and get some of that free beer to keep my blood flowing.
