Anderson and Dove combine for 36 points in win.

STILLWATER -- It's been awhile since the Oklahoma State Cowboys have enjoyed a blowout victory.

Marcus Dove said they made sure they enjoyed it Monday.

Dove combined with James Anderson for 36 points, and 10 players scored as the Cowboys romped past Northwestern (La.) State University, 82-36, in front of 5,156 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

"It was good to get back to that (blowout) feeling," said Dove, who had 15 points, five rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two assists. "For us to get back and be able to laugh and joke on the bench, it was fun.

"We realized we had to create our own energy. We wanted to play hard and get a win. We had long, hard practices that created a lot of energy. That's what we need to get ready for conference."

A sparse crowd by Oklahoma State standards did its best to energize the Cowboys after a slow start, said head coach Sean Sutton.

"It was a little different," Sutton said. "The players were a little lethargic early in the game. I know they were a little tired from as much as we practiced.

"We were able to generate some good plays. People here got into the game. We stayed focused on the defensive end and we shared the ball."

Anderson, the freshman standout who leads the Cowboys in scoring, poured in 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Byron Eaton added 10 points.

The OSU bench accounted for 26 points, led by Obi Muonelo with nine and two for redshirt freshman Scott Warner, who saw his first action and points of the season.

Trey Gilder was the only Northwestern State player to score double figures. He had 13.

This was the fifth consecutive loss for the Demons (4-10), who scored their lowest points in two years since a 49-42 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on March 13, 2005.

The blowout allowed Sut ton to go deep into his bench.

"I challenged our guys before the game to see if we couldn't hold them to 40-45 points," Sutton said. "I wanted them to concentrate on each possession. Northwestern was a little tired from being on the road. It was a solid win for us, and hopefully we can build on this and play as well or better Wednesday night (against Texas-San Antonio)."

Tyler Hatch played 18 minutes and scored six points with three rebounds.

"He played well," Sutton said. "He has been practicing better. He is someone that is a ball-mover on offense and a solid defender."

Sutton also had praise for Muonelo.

"Obi was more aggressive," Sutton said. "He had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and did not turn the ball over. The big thing was he was going toward the basket."

Junior forward Anthony Brown did not play.

"His knee is a little banged up," Sutton said. "He should be able to play Wednesday. I decided to rest him if we could."
