I'm in the absolutely hate em category.
Worst OSU uniforms ever; including those short-shorts that Kurland use to wear.

Ok, let's say the shorts were the same length as last year... then would you like them more?
You like them less than Byron Houston in spandex?

I happen to like them for a couple of reasons: 1) I wear baggy BB short around the house so I know how comfy they are and 2) It is the style for the more Nike Elite teams and I like the fact that we wear them for that reason.
Ultimately, it only matters if the players and potential recruits like them and I think the kids do.
like the color, the shorts, seem a bit baggy.
I thought they looked great.

The orange is great. They are still young men in pant dresses.

I think how comfortable the players are in them is much more important than what the old guys on the message boards think of modern styles.

Now THAT is an excellent point.

I cannot see how having material running up and down against your knees comfortable. And I don't care how lightweight the material is.
Why don't they put long sleeves on their shirts too? I'm sure their elbows will feel just as comfortable.

The shorts are too loose to run up and down your knees when you're playing. Shorter non-baggy shorts are actually more constricting because you can feel them on your thighs when you run or jump.
You can't do it with sleeves because it would be in the way when you shoot or rebound. That's why basketball shirts are always missing sleeves. I can't stand playing in even a normal t-shirt because the shooting arm side will always push against my arm and cause more resistence. I spend the entire game pushing the damn sleeves back up off my arm.
How many of you guys actually play basketball on a consistent basis? I play full court pickup 3 times a week and have played in everything from the tiny tight shorts back in the day to the baggy knee length ones that are popular now and I would take the current ones over the tight ones any day and can see why the players prefer it as well.
Keep in mind that most high level players I see also wear those compression shorts under their shorts too. So they already have one piece of clothing tight on their skin, the last thing you want is something else pushing on you.

I'm listening to you, FG, with an open mind on the comfort side of it, but the dress appearance will probably always look stupid to me.
I may try them if my feminine side tells me so. Getting them in OSU Orange will surely require a special order. :)
Oh, I was kidding about the shirt sleeves.

Well, there are lots of things that don't make sense from dress appearance, but when you get to the high levels of something people will do whatever it takes to add something to their game. Look at professional swimming for example. They are using suits that take 20 minutes to put on which require pretty much squeezing your entire body into just to shave a few milliseconds of time off their events. Shaving eyebrows, body hair, etc. Athletes do lots of crazy things with sometimes questionable effect on the end result.
Why the hell do players like Mani Ramirez wear baseball uniforms that look two sizes too large for them? They look horrible, but I bet they have a good reason for doing it.

Yes, the old baseball uniforms had a reason for being baggy, that is freedom of movement. Now we are seeing it again without the heavy wool.

Same thing for basketball shorts. Freedom of movement. You could make them super tight like leotards, but no one wants to see everyone's junk all the time I'm sure.

I would have to agree.
My other problem with the look in uniforms is the long baseball pants, but we can leave that issue for another time.

Well, I think that baggy short shorts would look REALLY stupid, so it kind of makes sense to make them baggy and longer.

These unis are better than the nutters that we wore for 1 game I think back when Leonard was coach. Anyone have a pic of those??

I work out in "Basketball Styled" shorts. I also work out in cotton styled shorts like cut-off sweat pants above the knee. I definitely prefer the basketball shorts. When doing squats and different leg exercises you definitely want the basketball shorts.
Now, about the long baseball pants. It's an either/or thing. I personally wear long, down to my ankles pants. I love the tall socks and shorter pants, but they aren't practical to me. Yeah, they're more "nostalgic" and look cooler but just not my thing. Plus, I have chicken legs so tall socks would look retarded. Now, if I was built like A-Rod, I would wear the same style that he does.
I like the Orange unis. The record in them on the road isn't that great, but that could all be in the past. And, its a uniform. They don't win or lose because of a uniform, unless they're superstitious, like I am. ;)

I believe, but I may be wrong in that OSU's only Big 8 Conference Championship was won playing in orange uniforms.
They also did not win many games the next year in the same color of my moon.

You quit too early! As ol' David Allen Coe sang it so well (at least for part of this) .....you forgot prison, gettin' drunk, Mom, trains, tri-delts, sock monkeys, quaisimodo and his hump, Don Quixote, the windmill.....:food-smiley-004:
