One team could win a conference crown while the other could extend its season.
As if Bedlam could get any bigger.
With a victory tonight, Oklahoma State will claim the Big 12 women’s soccer championship. But should Oklahoma pull the upset in the regular-season finale, it will snag the eighth and final spot in the Big 12 tournament.
"Our kids are fired up,” Cowgirl coach Colin Carmichael said.
They have good reason — no team in the program’s existence has ever won the Big 12 regular-season title. A victory against the Sooners would push the Cowgirls past Texas A&M, which has won four consecutive titles.
The Cowgirls won the conference tournament in 2003 but have finished in the top half of the league only twice.
"The regular season is by far the harder of the two to win,” Carmichael said. "We’re happy to be in this position.”
