TW:Speaking of Hooters, and getting drunk....

Police: Daly drunk, detained: John Daly was taken into custody Sunday morning by Winston-Salem police after he was found drunk outside an area Hooters restaurant.

Police said in a statement Wednesday that said officers went to the restaurant on a medical call. When they arrived, Daly was being treated by emergency workers after losing consciousness.

While at the restaurant, police said Daly "appeared extremely intoxicated and uncooperative," refused repeatedly to be taken to the hospital and was asked to leave the restaurant by several workers.

Daly was taken to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center for a 24-hour stay, until he was sober.

It would have to be a really large wagon, with very tall handrails and a huge safety net, for him not to wander around and fall off.

Daly pisses me off. I don't particularly care that he was drunk or that he smokes like a chimney - he's always had a propensity for that behavior and there are plenty who duplicate his efforts on those two fronts.

But in a perfect world (my own Planet Wahoo maybe?) nobody that willingly abuses their body in so many different ways would be able to consistently shoot under 80. On my private planet those guys shoot a 120. Here in the real world that sorry dog has a 2008 scoring averaging of 73 and change. Not PGA world class by any stretch, but how does one maintain scratch golfer status with seemingly little interest in the game?
