A day or two before Christmas, my furnace quit working. I mean, it would work, but it wouldn't blow hot air. I bought my house with the unit already in place, so I'm not exactly sure how old it is. However, I think it is in the 5-7 year old range. Anyway, when I went down to fix it, my little red light was blinking 4 times. My instruction panel said that I needed to "Open High Limit Device". I have no idea what that is or what it does, but I think it has something to do with the unit overheating. I looked at the panel and found the wires that went to and from the High Limit. All I did was turn the power off, unplug the wires that go to the limit and plug everything back in. The furnace lights and all is well for about a day. Then, it's the same thing all over again. I am looking for a long term fix.

Any ideas or information would be extremely appreciated.

I hear ya. I did that last year when it did the same thing. All the guy did what go down there and tell me to check my warranty b/c it was going to require a lot of $$$$. When he left, I just messed around with the wires and it worked for a year.

I figured I would just throw this out there before I threw my money at somebody.
