I'm looking for an MP3 player but have NO clue where to start. I know I don't need one that has video on it but if it comes with the option, so be it. I have seen some that have an FM tuner on them and that would be a great plus for ballgames to listen to play-by-play.

What do you have? What do you like/dislike about it? What is easy to download music to?

(see....I told you I don't know anything about them!! :o )

I think most mp3 players have fm tuners atleast all I have seen do. I had an Ipod I liked it. It had 1gb of memory which means it held up to 1000 songs on it. It come with it's own program to buy songs off the it's internet page or copy from cd's. You can also use windows media to download music to an mp3.
I payed around 180 for my Ipod. It just depends on how much you want to pay and how much you want in memory. I have seen some around 40 dollars to 300-400 dollars and I'm sure they got some higher than that.

My friend has had a couple of mp3 players made by creative and had trouble with all of them. He has a sony now that he really likes. Wal-Mart is where I would go. hey have a lot of the big names like apple ipod, sony, samsung, phillips among many other brands.

i just got a nano to replace my old sandisk cheapo mp3 player. Huge difference.

Having the option of creating playlist etc makes a huge difference to me. The sound is way better also. My old one only played in the alphabetical order. Fine for working out, which is what I used it for, but otherwise not so good. I honestly dont' know if other MP3 players do the playlist thing.

You can go to the apple website and get a refurbished 2G 2 gig nano for 79.00 with free shipping that will beat any 50 dollar walmart MP3 player. Can get a 4 gig one for 99.00. I would venture a guess that some 3rd generations will also be available soon as well. I bought both my kids refurbs for christmas. My understanding is that in order to qualify for a refurbish the Ipod has to be returned within a certain time frame and be deemed acceptable. comes with everything my new one came with. other than the generation thing - you couldn't tell they aren't new. i would only order refurbished from apple though. And FYI the IPOD aren't any cheaper at Walmart than they are at the apple store. I did see some on overstock.com, but they aren't much cheaper.

Thanks for the info. I looked online a little and there is just so much information. I'm looking at the Sony brand, but don't want to pay more just for the Sony name.
