I think Swanson Miller will have the biggest impact. He has the size (6'4,330) lack we have really lacked on the D-line this year.

What I like most about Miller is his attitude... here's a tidbit from one of his interviews:

“I plan on going in and playing my position and leading by example. One thing we did at Butler was play at what we called chaos tempo, and that’s my goal at Oklahoma State is to get everybody playing at the same tempo and was one family on defense.”

Miller said he didn’t sign with OSU to sit the bench, and hopes to earn a starting berth by the time the season opens Aug. 30 at Washington State.

“Yeah, I plan on going in there and taking control,” he said. “I’m just going to do what I can to help the defense and the team be successful.”

I think Beau Johnson could have just as big an impact, if not more. The kid is 215, which is about as big a back as we've had; especially at 5-11, and he rushed for almost 300 yards in his final "championship" game. When's the last time we had a kid that could even carry it that many times, much less get close to 300 in one game.

“The coaches told me they were bringing me in and expecting me to play against Washington State,” Johnson said of OSU’s season opener Aug. 30. “I feel like I’m going to be ready. I think spring practice will give me an advantage of learning the system, instead of coming in in July like the other players.”

I also like DT Donaldson and what he had to say, especially if he can back it up:

when asked if the fact the Cowboys need help at defensive tackle was a factor in his decision he gave a very positive answer that Oklahoma State coaches and fans will appreciate.

"No, that really wasn't a factor," he said. "I believe that I could go anywhere and be a starter. Wherever I ended up I was going to play. That really was never a factor for me in my decision."

I think Miller will have a huge impact for us. I don't think we will hear his name all the time, but a good DT frees up our LB's and secondary to make plays. Hopefully, he requires a double team quite a bit.

I think Johnson will be good b/c he will touch the ball quite a lot. I think we have gotten really spoiled with Savage. I love that guy. But, with Hunter, Toston, and Johnson, we should be in good shape. And, don't forget about Staley at RB either. If he signs, he COULD be a Dez type talent.

I'm not counting on Toston until I see how he recovers... hopefully by the time conference play starts he'll be going with abandon once again (I expect he'll be tentative when he returns; which is what happens to most kids returning from injury).

I agree with you on Milller. We don't have to hear his name all the time he just has to demand double teams and plug holes.
