Two weeks post surgery tomorrow. Mom's been sleeping an awful lot, so naturally I'm a little concerned. She's very weak. She was supposed to take a shot on saturday for her being enemic, but the pharmacy had to order the drug. They should have it tomorrow, and then i get to give her the shot. Yippee (uggg).. she will take the shot once a week for awhile i guess. They didn't tell us how long. She sees her neprologist tomorrow at dialysis, so i'll ask him some questions about all of it. Her staples are set to come out tomorrow, but none of our doctors are around until monday. I'm not sure what i'll do about that. Dr Coselli said a day or two wouldn't make a difference, so i'm hoping four days will be ok. I imagine it will take quite awhile to take them out. We are guessing there are around 150 staples. People cannot believe the incision when they see it. One half of her body on one side. She'll also need stitches taken out where the chest tubes were.

She's not eating alot at one time, but she's eating a little bit a couple times a day. She's REALLY swollen right now. Her whole stomach.

I'm going to try to go back to work tomorrow, for at least the four hours that her home health care provider is here. I have them coming in five days a week, for four hours a day. I have to try to get caught up at work. I went in for a few minutes on saturday, and my desk looks like a tornado had hit it, and i had 108 phone messages to return. Not looking forward to that.

Anyhoo, mom opened presents with all of us last night, since Ryan had to go to his inlaws this morning. I could tell she wanted to be back in bed. She had a nice time though, and it sure beat us sitting in a hospital room in Houston Texas.

She got some OSU dominoes, a bowl shirt, six gift cards, a osu watch, a orange ipod shuffle, some bath and body works stuff, a gift certificate for nails and a pedicures for three months, etc. Everyone was just so glad to have her home that we all spoiled her a little bit. She deserves it.

She told me to tell everyone here that she knows how hard all of you were pulling for her, (i told her) and that she appreciates each one of you. She said "Thank You, and Merry Christmas"

Things are going well. No problems we haven't been able to deal with. A surgery of this size will just take time to recover from.

I took some Christmas pictures of her. I'll try to post them tomorrow.

Merry Christmas OSSer's!

That's great news!!! Like you said, a surgery that intense will take some time, but glad to hear she is progressing and that you're getting some help with her. I'm sure it will do you good also to get back to some normalcy (not sure that is a word or if you're like me "define normal"!)

Prayers will continue for all.

Thanks so much for the update. I hope she feels well enough (very soon) to enjoy those nice Christmas presents! :D

Sympathy for going back to work. I've been in a similar situation. Ugh. :(

glad to hear she is on the slow road to recovery. slow and steady wins the race. two weeks really isn't that long after a trauma like that.

have a happy new year!
