* Based on a 9-3 record, OSU likely goes to the Alamo Bowl. Losses would be @Tech, @Texas, Oklahoma.
* Based on a 10-2 record, OSU likely goes to the Holiday Bowl. Losses would be @Texas, Oklahoma. That would leave Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri sharing two BCS bids and the Cotton Bowl.
* Based on a 11-1 record, OSU likely goes to the Cotton Bowl. Loss would be to either @Texas or OU.
* An undefeated OSU goes to the BCS baby!

Pokevette, you are sliiping usually about this time you are prepping '09's bowl projections. ;)
Personally, I would much rather go to the Sun Bowl than the Alamo Bowl. Ive always wanted to see El Paso. Of course I'd perfer San Diego for my own selfish reasons!
Is TTUAlum/Baghdad Bob still around? I believed he was San Diegan.

They both are close to a "boys town", Lewis. You're covered either way!:D

I wish I knew how to find him and let him know of our "move." I kinda miss the guy. He was, you know, *allsome.* :D

11-1 its BCS at large
More than likely Mizzu will represent the North and unless they win the title game, we would have the heads up against them & be the #2 in the Big 12.

Just a question, cause I don't know, but how did we get in the Cotton Bowl, what in 2003? We didn't go 11 - 1 or even 10 - that year......right?

Ive always wanted to see El Paso.
Imagine the surface of the moon.
Now imagine the surface of the moon covered in sand.
Now imagine the sand-covered moon dotted with buildings modeled after those found in Tibet.
Now imagine the sand-covered, Tibetan-influenced outpost with a McDonald's.
You have now seen El Paso.
Lewis, if you go, don't let nighttime find you in Rosa's Cantina...

Nothing is wrong with dreaming big. I am glade they are doing great thus far. I just feel like your counting your money while your still playing poker. In a few more games it will be more clear where we might be going. I sure we will win a few more games. We got some tough games ahead of us.
Another words don't get your heart on one bowl game.

We got in because Texas had played there the previous season (or maybe two) before and we were a team that had not played there before (as well as being known as a good traveling school... ie bring lots of fans). The bowls don't have to pick the teams in the order of records they just normally do that.

In 2003, there were three teams ahead of us in overall record. Kansas State and Oklahoma went to the BCS. Texas had been to the Cotton 3 of the previous 5 years and was able to get a higher ranked opponent in that year by sliding down to the the Holiday Bowl. That made the Cotton available to us. It was all a mutual agreement between the parties. The Cotton was happy to have a team different than Texas, Texas wanted a better match-up, and we wanted our first New Year's Day Bowl in forever.

If somehow we beat Texas and TTech but lose to OU, won't we still play in the Big 12 title game and if we won that we would get a BCS bid with one loss. Of course, if the above happened it might be enough to get you in the Nat Champ game depending on everyone elses records.

Pokevette, my orange friend... your analysis does not account for ties...
If we go 10-2 and especially 11-1, then you can almost bet there will be a tie for first in the South... which could mean we are the South "champion" and that we (and Missouri) get the BCS bids... even with 1 or 2 losses...
Those tie-breaker thingys are hard to predict this far out.

Actually, it kinda does account for ties....
If OSU ends up with two losses (as I said above) with those being against OU and Texas, odds are almost certain one of those teams will end with one loss. So, we won't win the South in that scenario.
If OSU loses to Texas, but beats OU? That likely makes Texas undefeated and the South champ.
If OSU beats Texas, but loses to OU? That likely makes at least a two-way if not three way tie. In that instance, we would lose the tie-break to OU in a 2-way tie. In a three way tie, the higher BCS ranked team would likely go and in that scenario with us losing on the final weekend of the regular season, we would likely not be the highest rated BCS team.
So (in general), I did account for most likely tie breakers in what i said. Of course this early, there are still some "unlikely" tie breaks I did not try to reason through.

I guess... you appear to be supposing that TTech doesn't factor into the equation (by beating somebody like UT or OU)... or Missouri beating Texas, or Kansas pulling an upset... or...
long way to go yet.
Texas plays MU, OSU, @TTech, @KU, (aTm, BU)
OU plays @KU, @aTm, TTech, @OSU (NU, @KSU)
TTech plays @aTm, @KU, UT, OSU, @OU (BU)

I still think that if we only lose to OU and OU only has one loss to Texas, we would win the tiebreaker for the South Division champ. The first tiebreaker is record against other teams in the South Division and we would win the tiebreaker with the victory over Texas (vs. OU's loss to them). I have not looked at the official tiebreaker rules (too lazy) but I think this is how I remember it.
I know, this is just an academic exercise right now.

But, if OSU and uo both had one loss and they beat us heads up, they would get the nod and we would be left at home... :ousucksnana:

At 10-2, we will be in the Cotton Bowl (UT, uo in BCS, and 10-3 MU in Holiday).
At 11-1, we are BCS bound (UT or uo in BCS, other in Cotton, and 10-3 MU in Holiday).
Note - The above statements is assuming UT beats MU, and the South wins the BIG12 Championship.

interesting, but I'm not sure that I follow....
I guess you're assuming that the Big12 champion with 1-loss will be in the title game; which is a crap shoot at this point.
We could get the B12 champ in the Fiesta, and another at-large BCS bid, but I'm not sure why you think that another BCS bowl would pick OSU over OU (or Texas), even if we're 11-1.
It's certainly possible, but certainly no guarentee at this point, IMO.

Just so we don't leave any doubts, we need to just go undefeated and then we won't have to worry about any tie breakers. With the way we're playing, I just don't see anyone that we CAN'T beat!!!!
