Holder wants students to sit in new west end

STILLWATER — Before the start of the 2008 season, construction on the west-end section at Boone Pickens Stadium will be complete.

The stadium seating capacity will jump from 44,700 to 60,000. Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder said he would like to see the west end filled with students, along with the band and members of the spirit squad.

“We have the ability now to accommodate all of our students who want to come to the games,” Holder said. “It’s just imperative that we get all of our students to come to the football games.

“We want our students to take pride in that section of the stadium and take ownership of it.”

Holder said a west-end seat provides “a great look” at the playing field and the video board mounted at the east end of the stadium.

Holder also said that the seating will be reconfigured throughout the stadium. For some seats, the designated space was as narrow as 14 inches. Before the start of the 2008 season, Holder said, the designated space for all seats will be at least 18 inches.

Agreed. Give them the family fun zone, cheaper seats, and then make their old section high dollar seats. Sounds like a recipe for 43,000 fans per game.

Yeah Holder the seats will be great. I am sure al of the big time donors will gladly sit in the west end zone as well. I am assuming he would perfer 2 watch the game from the end zone as well.

Mr. Holder you are talking 2 college students, not 8-year olds. More importantly, they are college students that help 2 pay your salary. It may be smarter not to talk down to them as if they are too stupid to not see your alterior motives, for wanting students in the less desirable seats.

I sometimes seriously wonder if Holder gets his talking points from T. Boone while washing his feet upon T. Boone's arrival.

Do the students pay his salary?

What's so bad about sitting down in that new endzone? If that's where the students seats were when we were in school Lewis and I didn't have to pay as much for my seats as people that sit along the sidelines you know I would have been there and it wouldn't have mattered one darn bit. If we could get the students to fill up that endzone that would make for one heck of an advantage, personally I wish it would work out that way.

Make it cheap enough an you might be able to fill it with students.

What did a student ticket cost for this season?

Holder has been complaining for two years that the students do not use all of the prime allocated tickets... use them or lose them.

I think he is only talking about SOME of the student seats, they ones that aren't being used now.

Dang smart of Holder to try to get some extra $$$ for prime unused seats.

Why do so many automatically try to paint our AD and Coaches as the bad guy?

Besides we'll be losing some seats due to the widening, so some student seats would be lost anyway... maybe he's just trying to set the stage for some HAVING to move to the WEZ.

Lewis...if you want to be taken seriously when presenting what you obviously believe to be a serious argument, you should really consider using the spell-check if you can't spell all that well yourself, and lose the teeny-bopper text message language, too.

ironicly most of my posts are from my phone. So yeah, I don't apologize for that. The alterior motive is moving students to the west end, and then jacking up the price for the sideline seats.

I would rather leave the students where they are, and let the west end be family fun zone, and cheaper seating that would allow some folks who feel priced out to come back....thats the only way we will be over 50,000 per game.....well, that and a freakin good team would help.

Yeah, I was hoping to be able to sit in the west end zone for cheaper than I paid for my tickets this year. Now I'm seeing talk that next year's tickets will be more expensive. I guess I will have a lot more free Saturdays next year because I'm not paying almost $1000 for bad seats. It's too bad.

Thanks Canadian, I appreciate the unsolicited advice. I'll take it that you agree with my sentiments, because all you could find fault with were grammatical errors.

Point taken.
