Oklahoma City University does their grading as follows:

Grading Scale Grade Corresponding GPA
94 and above A 4.00
90-93.99 A- 3.75
87-89.99 B+ 3.25
84-86.99 B 3.00
80-83.99 B- 2.75
77-79.99 C+ 2.25
74-76.99 C 2.00
70-73.99 C- 1.75
67-69.99 D+ 1.25
64-66.99 D 1.00
60-63.99 D- 0.75
59.99 and below F 0.00

How about that? You can make straight A's your four years and only come out with a 3.75 GPA.

So what about the classes that have a skewed grading scale? I remember chemistry classes at OSU where a 70 would get you a B according to the syllabus on the first day of class and people still struggeled in that class. I would think OCU's scale would hurt their students when they're going against students from other schools that have the more traditional grading scale.

Yeah, after discussing it with our son, it's the way you look at it. A 3.5 GPA from OCU is going to look more impressive than a 3.5 from another school. It's tougher but if he keeps his grades up it will look good.

We just didn't know they graded that way.

You still have to explain it to people. They even did it in law school, on reason why ALL my donations go to OSU rather than OCU.

That's only if they know about it and you get a chance to explain it as being different. I think it's a bad idea as long as it's not the standard that the majority of schools use.
