Anyone know anything on the Palmer kid in Texas (the new
qb recruit that we seem to be looking into)? I found a very
brief bio. on the kid and he seems like a longer shot than
Tettleton. Any insights?

Also any word on commitments out of any of the Ga. players
we are recruiting.

Kansas is watching OSU's interest in Colton Palmer (*) of Kerrville (Tivy), Texas, too.

Cowboys could disappoint SMU too.

QB Colton Palmer has great camp at SMU

Palmer must run a little track.

Rival QBs Allen and Palmer keep things friendly — most of the time

Just one game into what could be the most difficult schedule in the San Antonio area, Kerrville Tivy coach Mark Smith did his best to downplay the Antlers’ 49-28 demolition of Roosevelt.

“It’s a good start,” he said, “but that’s all it is — a start. One game doesn’t make a season. By no means have we arrived.”
If that is true, one shudders to think what they’ll be capable of when they do.

Led by a virtuoso performance from senior quarterback Colton Palmer, the Antlers (1-0) opened their season in style, scoring touchdowns on seven of eight possessions at one point — the non-scoring drive was halted by halftime — and rolling up 477 yards of offense.

Palmer was the impetus, accounting for all seven Tivy touchdowns — four passing, two rushing and one receiving. Looking like a high school version of Joe Montana, he completed 17-straight passes, 23 of his last 24 and 29 of 32 overall to finish with 324 yards passing.

For good measure, he also caught a 55-yard score on a perfectly thrown pass from receiver Logan Vick. The second of three unanswered touchdowns, the play put the Antlers ahead for good, 14-7 in the second quarter.

The dynamic Vick, one of nine different Tivy players to catch a pass, had 12 receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown.
With Vick and Palmer hooking up virtually at will, the Antlers played as if in midseason form — no matter what their coach said.

“We don’t think we should ever be stopped,” Palmer said. “When you have receivers like that, and a line like that, it’s easy to do what I did. I was just out there playing. I had a fun time.”

As if Palmer and his receiving corps aren’t dangerous enough, Tivy looks to have added another weapon to its arsenal with sophomore Johnny Manziel.
Primarily a receiver, Manziel was pressed into emergency duty at running back when Tivy’s top two candidates were injured in last week’s scrimmage.

He looked right at home, wiggling and juking his way to 138 total yards (87 rushing, 51 passing).

He also is listed as Tivy’s backup quarterback, giving the Antlers what would appear to be a quality successor for Palmer.

Until then, they’ll be more than happy to utilize one of the most valuable assets in high school football — a talented, experienced signal caller at the top of his game.

“We can only get better,” Palmer said. “We have some mistakes we can fix. That’s what’s exciting.”

First year Georgia QB prospect Ed Russ had a rough and unproductive opener.

The Blue Devils racked up 220 yards of total offense compared to only 139 for Mill Creek. The Norcross defense also dominated, sacking Mill Creek quarterback Ed Russ a total of eight times.

Russ finished the night 11 of 16 for 93 yards and picked up ten yards rushing. http://www.mainstreetnewssports.com/archives/409-Mill-Creek-loses-region-opener,-faces-Duluth-Friday.html

I'm more concerned with his preoccupation with 17-year old boys.

I keed jbug, I keed...well, kinda. I haven't seen someone so riveted to high school kids since James Hale.

Come on Borange...I trust you know better than that and hopefully
your comment is tongue in cheek. If not, %#@* you :action-smiley-033:
I'm certainly wanting the Pokes to get the very best
players we can get.

Best regards and keep on bleeding O ( or not ).

Yes it was tongue in cheek, that's why I said as much. It was merely a playful elbow jab at you recruiting types who are so preoccupied with where a bunch of kids may or may not go to school. I just don't "get" the obsession with recruiting, but to each his own, I know a lot of people like it.

Some people golf, some people fish, and some wonder everyday where Joe Bob is going to go to college a year from now. ;)

Let's put it this way...
Turn around and there will just be a vacuum
where once stood Joe Bob :party-smiley-018:

But I live zillions of miles away so I have to
live vicariously through the likes of Borange info.
And since he no longer cares, we're all screwed.

Don't worry Jbug, you're not the only one on here that requires a daily fix of recruiting updates. In fact, I think it's more the norm rather than the exception. And yes, I include myself among the recruiting junkies. Go Pokes!

I figure if he has the letters C-O-L-T in his name and he is from Texas, then he has to be good. :-)
