If Adams is gone Sean needs to be gone too. DUI's, bad attitude, grass, etc happens everywhere. But Sean seems to have had more of it in the last two years than Eddie, Mike, Les and Simmons combined.

I don't want to wait until March to find out if he can turn this around. I have seen enough. Let Dickey coach the rest of the year and then bring someone new in.

Haven't heard "new" news, but Martavius Adams was suspended for the Pitt game -- rumors of weed. Thot it was suspension, implication above is he's been dismissed but I haven't heard that.

By the way I am a well-known OSU Sports OUTSIDER, so I wouldn't have heard... :)

If you've had enough then become a goon.

It's not like Eddie never kicked anybody off the team... like Big Dady and half a dozen other kids.

Besides, it's the last ONE YEAR, the year before were actually Eddie's boys; remember... or is it just convenient for you to lump that into Sean tenure as well? Helps make your case against him, huh?

There was a lengthy article in GoPokes magazine in which Sean talked about the program having gotten away from quality people, but that he had made a strong effort to better evaluate "character" with this group, and so far it seems to be so... so what he missed on Adams.

So help me out here, where was Sean when these kids were all being recruited?

The decision to take a kid is the head coaches, the assistants have input, the final decision was Eddie's.

When I was at OSU we had a guy named Richard Dumas that pissed his future away. The Dumas situation was extraoridnary. Players pissing their career away seems to be an oridnary occurence with Sean's players.

We want to believe in Sean but to do so we seem to always have to throw a player under the bus. It just does not seem possible that all of these kids have been the problem and Sean is a victim of circumstances.

Here are the players that he has recruited. All but a couple of these guys should still be on the team but it looks like we are looking at another year of playing with 8 or 9 scholarship players. But hey, we have proby and Page on the way.

Sorry, we can't afford to wait this out anymore. We need to go another direction. Sean needs to resign now. Dickey can coach the rest of the year and we can bring someone in who has proven that he can keep a full roster and win games.

RedDirt:

I like you man but I am not sure that I could disagree with you more. I am sitting at 180 degrees from your position.

I believe that Sean is making progress with the Basketball program. I believe that I would rather have people who are committed to winning the right way than a dozen pot smoking stars. I believe that Sean learned a lot last year in his first full year of being the head coach and his game management and player substitution are much much better than they were last year. There are so many things that I see him doing better this year that it has truly been a pleasant surprise to me.

We all want to be back in the category of a Sweet 16 or Final 4 team. Realize that all of the other teams in the nation want the same thing. We recruit as best we can against a variety of teams going after the same folks.

And then if in fact the rumors are true about Adams and Pot (which I don't know are for certain) then why wouldn't this thread be about why the athletes of today feel they have to smoke pot and do drugs and throw away a promising opportunity to better themselves instead of slamming the coach?

In regards to whose players were there before, wasn't Sean the one getting all the credit when the #1 recruiting class was being brought in, and even the few years before that? My memory can be a little faulty, but it sure seems Sean was given a lot of credit for all the guys being brought into the program... Now to say he is trying to clean it up and bring in his own guys seems to be trying to have it both ways...

Just for a bit of perspective --

In 1991 the Redskins were the bomb. No one could touch them. Since that time the management of the team has centered around the idea of "blow it up and rebuild it" each couple of years.

16 years later; is anyone impressed?

Maybe Sean isn't the man, maybe he is -- I just don't think 1.2 seasons is sufficient time to decide.

The only bit I found about Martavius was in the DOK from this past weekend. HEre's the blurb:

"•Suspended Saturday: OSU's Martavius Adams was suspended for Saturday's game.

"I didn't like the way he practiced (Friday),” Sutton said.

If the freshman center, who started the last two games, had played he would have been in a No. 53 jersey rather than his usual No. 13 because his luggage was lost on the trip. He also had to have his size 15 shoes sent to Pittsburgh via FedEx. "

I"m frustrated as well. Tickets to OSU basketball cost alot of money. We are a basketball school. (hopefully football too)

For a program that has been two the final 4, elite 8's, and sweet 16's as much as we have in the past 15 years....this 3 year run, counting this season is just terrible, and unaccetable. Do you think Kentucky would keep waiting to see if things turn out better?

I want nothing more than for Sean to succeed, but I just don't see it. This team plays street ball, and jacks 3's. Another player kicked off. 14 game road losing streak....etc, etc.....attendence at its worst in years. Student tickets not even close to selling out.

Something is rotten with our basketball program. I don't know if he can save it now or not.

This quote was from the AP article on last night's game

"If we would have come out and fought and it was a one-point or two-point game, (Sean Sutton) would have been feeling a lot better knowing that we did go out there and fight for him," Eaton said. "If I was a coach and we did what we did tonight, I would feel like my team turned their back on me."

Don't be surprised if the players are turning their back on Sean. In fact, I bet they were at points last year too.

The Cowboys are not even competitive with a team from the Summit Conference. Two straight years of first round NIT loses and this year not even close to post season play has me worried. The kicking players off doesn’t mean anything to me. That stuff comes and goes. I just want a winning program and this bunch is so far away it is sad.

hey red dirt is this number correct ? if so then this nearly equals the total number of players that gundy has kicked off. when i see this list I say to myself man thats almost enough players to field two basketball teams or a enough to use on the offense or defensive sid of the bal in football.
I can beleive this to be accurate but man this is a lot of players for a 2 or 3 year span. that number of players with troubles may reflect bad on Sean but i cant blame Sean for kicking this many guys off the team but it is a bad omen of how far osu has fallen.
bottom line is i really feal bad for Sean.

Acefiin,

I was not clear in that message. Those are the guys that could be on this team (Boggan should not have been on that list) and the following are guys on that list that still are on the team.

Adams, Martavius (may be gone 12/18/07)
Anderson, James
Brown, Anthony
Dove, Marcus
Eaton, Byron
Garrett, Brad (surfing accident, gone for the year)
Harris, Terrel
Moses, Marshall
Muonelo, Obi
Sidorakis, Nick
Thomas, Ibrahima

I hear you, but we shouldn't miss the NCAA tourn more than once every 5-10 years, if that. :(

No one wants Sean to succeed more than me. I think very highly of the Sutton family.

I don't think Mr. Holder would fire a coach during the season based on his record. Some other reason would have to be the cause and I don't see that happening. After the season is over....that is another matter.:o
