Hey Elf,

Looked for ya at the casino today, had some news to tell you.

My MD has been running some heavey duty tests on my old bode the last couple of months, he has put me on 3 high blood presure medications to ward off a stroke or kidney failure. I got a gander at one of the chest xrays and saw a spot the size of an grapefruit on one of the lungs. He scheduled me for a CT scan and to a Lung specialist.

To shorten the story the CT scan confirmed the cancer on the chest xrays. The lung doctor told me that it was in-operable because of its size. That radiation and chemo "might" work, that he wanted me to take the radiation scan to see how broadly spread it was in my ole bode.

After being without electrical power and feezing my ass off for four days, i decided that being lit up wouldn't benefit my situation, so i rejected the offer. So let their be sunlight and Merry Christmas to everyone.

Junkie, my father-in-law had radiation and chemo for lung cancer (he wasn't a candidate for surgery either) and really didn't have any particular side effects--no nausea or feeling sick or anything. (He was bald as a cue ball, so we'll never know if he lost his hair.) And the treatments bought him about 3 years of normal, quality life, which he spent what he spent all his other years doing--building radio controlled airplanes and helicopters and such. Might be worth looking into.

In the meantime, I'll be saying a few prayers, and thinking of you and JimBob spending a festive Christmas Eve at the casino.

WJ,

If you reject the treatment option, how long do you have? Did they say?

Junkie,

Deeply saddened by the results of your test. I know you're a fighter and you'll do whatever you think is best for yourself and your family.

I don't know if this will influence your decision but I've got the mini-bar stocked with REAL Budweiser just for you. So, I expect to see that big old smile of yours at the tailgate's for a long time!

Hope you, your wife, family and friends will find great peace & joy this holiday season.

You're in my prayers!

Wrestlingjunkie, I have never met you but feel like we have something in common. I'm a wrestling fan, have been accused of having a junkie mouth, and I'm a cancer survivor. Fortunately, my prostate cancer was operable and it is now seven years later.

Hearing the C-word is very fearful but you work through it. Once you collect all the information available and look at the many option, you make a decision about the best course to follow. I'm very sorry to hear of your situation and hope you come out on top after the battle. Best of luck in the future and keep your chin up.

Billy, you old codger, you better not be giving up!

I'll say a little prayer for you on my part, but you have got to fight this! You can beat this. If I can do it, so can you...

Your attitude plays a very important role in your recovery, so don't give up!
You have too much to look forward to, and I better see you at the tailgates in the fall!

Just for your info, I am the Junkie's wife -- we met at Horace Mann Jr. High in 1948---after high school in 1952, Junkie joined the air force and I went to
Oklahoma A& M---we had been best friends in H.S.--I even went with Junkie's best friend who was the best man in our wedding in 1955. Junkie is still my best friend.

We are making plans to go the Wrestling Nationals in St. Louis. We will take one day at a time and see where it goes.

Junkie's decisions are his own and I told him that whatever he decided to do, I would go every step with him and support him in any way possible. After all we have been married since April, 1955 and we kind of think alike.

Just keep Junkie in your prayers--we need all of the prayers and strength we can muster to get through this.

We love all of you and we both definitely plan on seeing a bunch of you at OSU this fall for football and of course we will be at wrestling.

He's darned lucky to have a loyal and devoted companion like you, 55. Congrats to both of you on your long and obviously happy marriage. You're my role models--I'm coming up on 30 years next June, but I hope to follow right along in your footsteps.

Welcome, junkie's daughter! Your family is ROYALTY around here, and we are so glad you stopped by.

Please post often and keep us up to date on the little guy and his wrestling career. Any time a member of the Pursell family wants to drop by here, it will be a joy for all of us. We know it's been a tough holiday for you, and we're hurting around here, too.

We love you guys.
