Twas The Night Before Tempe
By Mr. Orange-Power
12/16/07
Twas the night before Tempe, when all throughout our Bowl,
Not a player was stirring, not even William Cole.
The jerseys were hung by the lockers with care,
In hopes that Coach Gundy soon would be there.
The players were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Bowling danced in their heads.
And Mrs. OP in her vest, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long New Year’s Eve nap.
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from the tailgate to see what was the matter.
Away to our seats we flew like a flash,
Tore off our tickets and threw down some cash.
The desert sun shinning on the bleachers in a row,
Gave luster before kickoff to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a mighty quarterback, and a team with no fear.
With a little old running back, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment Savage was the trick.
More yards than most his rushes they came,
He and Robinson shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Hunter! now, Toston! now, Crosslin and Pettigrew!
On, Broadway! On, Devereaux! On Bowman, who knew!
To the endzone! Bryant to the top of the wall!
Now rush away! Rush away! Rush away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild cyclone fly,
Down in Tempe, footballs took to the sky.
So off in the desert the passes they flew,
With an armful of completions, and touchdowns too.
And then, in the crowd, we heard a Fan,
The clap and yell of each and every man.
As I raised my sign, and was turning around,
Down the field we came with a thunderous bound.
The Fans all in ORANGE, from head to spur,
Cheered on our Cowboys with every word.
A bundle of tacklers had flung on his back,
So he looked, he threw, TOUCHDOWN, a ZAC Attack!
It’s the defense’s turn, their time to shine
They pounded Indiana, it’s ORANGE-POWER time!
Led by Sexton, Price, Woods and Moore
The Hoosiers tried but they just could not score!
Nethon, Lavine, Peterson and Cox
Plus, Fountain, Collins and Van Zant kept Indiana in a box!
Bowl wins are exceptionally bliss
We will miss you Larry, good luck at Southern Miss!
So, there you go Cowboy Fans,
A magical day in Tempe is at hand!
Join us for the New Year’s Eve cheer
At the Sturgeon tailgate with an ice cold beer!
Merry Bowling Everyone!!!
