If you have any you need to haul off, bring it to my house.
I need a few ricks of wood for the winter!

Do you and Jakeman do telephone poles? My mom seems to have one lying across her back yard...

I'll try and get some pics posted tomorrow. I've got some of them piled already, but I'm give out. I don't think I'm gonna work on it tomorrow. But I might.

It's snowing, so I gave myself the day off from everything, including camera work.;)

Not sure this will work, but here are just a few crappy ones I took with my phone.

A few more, some duplicates. I've got some more on the camera, but I"m just too lazy to download then upload them. Maybe later.

You get the idea. I've got 5 acres with a lot of trees, and I don't have a single tree that doesn't have some breakage, and some are completely destroyed. I haven't been over by Sea of Orange's place, I would imagine he is as bad off as I am, if not worse. He had some really big trees very close to the house. I'm certain he has branches on his home.

I should probably grab the saw and head on over there.

Sea, you okay dude?

Yeah, we're okay. Sounds like I needed to come over and help you. Geez, those are some pretty brutal photos.

My Silver Maple (by the back patio) had quite a few branches break off, but the tree is still in pretty decent shape. My "hack-berry"(I don't know what those really are, Elms?) by the back bedroom (SW Corner of house) took on some pretty good damage. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take it down. It really never recovered from the gale-force tornado winds from about 2 years ago. It's been a pretty good tree for shade in the evenings for that part of the house. Bummer. All the Black Jacks on the north part of property line looks like somebody threw a hand grenade of there. Geez. I already had a burnpile about 15 feet wide and 5-6 feet tall before all of this shit happened. Looks like I'm going to have two big piles going at the same time. If this damn wind would ever die down.

I'm so glad my brother-in-law has been using my chainsaw. He's cut down a whole crap load of trees by the river to make a paintball course. I'll bet my chain is "nice-and-sharp".

How much are new chains these days? It's an 18 inch Poulan.

The hackberry that made the tunnel over my drive got hammered as well. What limbs didn't just snap, twisted and split. We burned most of what fell the first two days before I got some real firewood. We were pulling them down with the truck and a chain and I was cutting it up anyhow so we could get in and out of the drive. Came back Monday night after going to eat and the biggest limb yet was smack in the middle of the drive. I just didn't have the strength anymore, and it was late. I hooked the chain on to it, and we just pulled it out in the ditch. It's still there.

I bought 4 20 inch chains for about $20 bucks a piece. When it warms up, and the home centers have an over stock on saws, I'll probably go find another 20 inch saw. I've already changed chains twice. Gonna have to find someone around here close that can sharpen them.

You should drive by and look at this mess. The one ponderosa pine that didn't snap is bent over like a cheap fiberglass fishing rod. I'm hoping if it survives the winter that it will straighten out, but I doubt it will. I know what you are saying about the blackjacks. You should see the timberline on the west end of the house. It looks like a helicopter crashed in there and just took out all the tops. Lost the entire north side of the big white oak in the back yard. I'll have plenty of apple and peach to smoke brisket with this spring.

There is a dude about a half mile east of me on the south side of the road that has it way worse than me. I don't know what the hell he is gonna do. Maybe a D9.

I'm gonna get what I can, rent a 60' knuckle lift and get the rest, and then hire someone to get what I can't get to. Oh joy.

Bunch of crap is what it is.

I have not seen the damage to my house in Del City, but I guess I will when I get there the end of this month. My daughter still doesn't have power.

Just looked at my back window here, and I see the power line from our house to Keith's workshop laying on the ground. Dang. :(

edit: I woke Keith up and had him go check the downed line. It's our line for our computers. Thankfully, it didn't break loose from the house!

Talked to my mom the other day (I've called her almost every day last week). My brother cleared the limbs out and found a hole the size of a fist in the roof. They had to cover it because of the prospect for snow that didn't come. She's sending me pics with her package of Christmas gifts for the boys this week. I'll try to get some scanned and posted.

Dortha: The man slaves over a hot computer all week long and on his day to rest you go wake him up and get him out of bed to go out in the cold and check a downed line? Now tell what is wrong with that picture. :)

Poor Keith.

Not a thing wrong with that picture. He would have been angry at me if I had gone out there to check it out, so I woke him up. Not really, but that part is his responsibility!! ;) Anyway, I had already been up for over three hours and had put weather strips on our carport door for him. Helped Mason with a 3D puzzle and teased Mary while she was asleep. I had already drank a pot of coffee and started another one. :D

It wasn't that bad..

I could have skipped the part where I slid down the hill in my slippers, but it's all good.

That's part of our division of labor. Staring dumbfound at lines laying on the ground and mumbling in a semi-intellegent tone about them is one of my jobs. :)
