Ah, the off season. How boring it is!

What are your pre-game rituals? Do you stay at home, or attend the games? Get there early or just before kick off?

In previous years, going to Stonewalls was as regular as wearing orange. The beer was good, cheap and the pool was 25 cents. In the past couple of years we started tailgating on the North side. That sold me on the wonders of tailgating and all the fun it has to offer. We have met some of the best people on the planet. (many that are here.) So now our pre-game ritual consists of leaving Yukon at least six hours before kick off, setting up the grill/tables/canopy/keg and enjoying the fellowship of our great OSU fans. We also like to have themes for most tailgates. In the past we have had Oktoberfest, crab boils, fine meats, but mostly just BBQs.

Isn't the Stonewall that "alternative living" bar?

Yea, I've heard that too. It must be a lie because I am one fine looking man and I have never been hit on. Actually, besides some rather tough looking women, I never thought of it as being true.

Stonewall had that reputation the whole time I was at school there, but I never really understood why.

It was the bar where a lot of the artsy pseudo-hippie theater and English majors would hang out, but I like going there because you could actually buy a beer and just shoot the breeze without being knocked around by a bunch of roided-up frat daddies.

Yes, Stonewalls can attract some weird women, knew the former owner very well until he got off his meds and flipped out and is now a hippie in Kansas and now the new owner tailgates with us provides us with ice.

but some of the finest beef jerky in the world, and know the guy that makes it:p

Is Stonewall where they found a body at last year?

I had heard that about the Stonewall too. But in my opinion they also had the strongest drinks in all of Stillwater so you got your money's worth there.

For pregame it is pretty simple. Roll out of bed. Turn on Gameday. Watch some early games to get in the mood. Don the orange. Drive up to Stillwater. Find our super-secret free parking spot. Go watch the walk.

During the game= Dip'n Dots (They've been the ice cream of the future for years!)

Postgame= Qdoba

I don't know if it was as much that they "found" the body as much as it was that a guy committed suicide there.

Anyway - hate for it to sound like I'm making light of the situation, but yeah - the guy shot himself just inside the door leading out to the courtyard (which I guess is technically the front door).

Hahaha - tell Hallie that I could never forget their $2 drink specials, if only I could remember them. Remind her that Whitley and I were no strangers to the cheapest Jack & Cokes in Payne County.

My pregame ritual is to check the TV guide to see if it is on tv. Sadly, It isn't too often.

because you could actually buy a beer and just shoot the breeze without being knocked around by a bunch of roided-up frat daddies.

Ahh, so you are not a frat daddy?

Attempt to leave Duncan really early....never happens. don the orange. Load the car with the tailgate stuff. Tailgate all day before game. Go to Walk. Sneak in a little shopping if BBB doesn't catch me. Go to game and yell like crazy for the Pokes. Post game return to tailgate. If we win, watch BBB consume more beer. :party-smiley-018: And, chauffeur BBB home. If we lose,.... we don't talk about that.

well since I coach football and we work 7 days a week during football season i can only tell about my pregame before one of my high school games....

Check equippment, nap, eat with other coaches, pregame scouting and individual position meetings, my pregame pray session, and finally game time...

As far as "watching" OSU games... plop on the couch with beer and chips at arms length (about 20 minutes before game time)... halftime is grilling and flipping steaks/ porkchops/ chicken.... after game is nap time before start of late games :action-smiley-033:

Wear Orange, drink lots of beer

Same same... except in Japan this occurs at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning. The international date line really destroys my Sundays during football season.

On gameday mornings, I raise my OSU flag up the flagpole and pray that it is a good luck flag this year (I go through one a year). We get ready for the game and usually I am listening to the pre-game (like I needed something to get me fired up for the game).

Pre-game rituals used to be where my in-laws drove down from Ponca City and we would have lunch together at our house or leave in their van for the game depending on game time. We sometimes had tailgates in the parking lot. Nothing extravagant. Usually sandwiches and chips. But my wife and I didn't have tickets the last two years so I don't know what the plans are this year. And we will probably be parking a couple miles from the stadium.

We used to leave our house an hour and a half before each game that way we got a decent parking spot and we got to be there for pre-game warmups, the band entering the stadium, getting caught up with the people who sit around us and follow any scores on the Spiritron.

I have been over to the Sturgeon tailgate a few times but only once did I talk with anyone (Scott). The other times there were so many people I just didn't know how to approach people so I either turned around or walked through the crowd like I was going to the game. Kind of intimidating.

Lastly, it never fails. Once out of the car, we start walking to the stadium and I look to my side and my wife is no place to be found. I'll look back and sure enough she's a block and a half behind me. "Would you slow down?!" is always her response. I guess I'm just too excited and want to get there. :D

If going to the game.

Usually get there about 5 hours early. We'll swing by the barn and see Calvin for a bit. Get some beer, boot whiskey(little half pints of Crown we put in the side of our boots to take into the game, that way we can enjoy a Crown and Coke during the game, don't tell anyone!!). Then head to our spot on the southside over by Joe's. We'll drink beer and eat turkey legs. Sometimes we'll cook, but not usually.

If not going to the game.

Wake up early and prep gameday meal. Usually consists of marinating steaks for about 4 hours. Prepare gameday meal before the game and eat. Drink with friends. Stand out on the back porch, drink, eat, and cheer on the Pokes.

That was my impression of Eskimo Joe's back on 1980. How things have changed.
